Ease skilling upFollow

Please consider relaxing your skill-up policies SE. I'd love to see Campaign award skill-ups. I'd also like to see general rate increase all round on skill ups. Maybe you could add some "training" weapons that are very low damage but increase skill gain? A meaningful increase, too.

All these new methods of gaining XP outside of the normal camp parties is fantastic, but at the moment after a few levels I start to get the sense of foreboding and think "oh geez, my skill level is going to be right out of kelter, I better stop exping". Currently skilling is a dull, dreary, monotonous affair.

Wait til level 90 and then skill up while meriting like everyone else!

(I have determined that you can reliably hit worms in La Theine at 200+ with sushi and stalwart's and you can reliably hit puks in Vunkerl at ~250+ with the same, and the buffalo and dolls in ulegerand and the desert at 280+ with the accuracy boosts. This testing was done via dagger skill on DNC from 70 to 90, in which dagger was capped from THF previously. Reliably means about 90% accuracy or higher when not blinded or otherwise enfeebled, as worms and puks are wont to do.)

There are certain jobs I've basically abandoned, like COR, because level synch and campaign have made my skills so hopelessly below par that I'd rather not level them at all.

Skilling up is one of the most mindnumbing things you could do in this game. I have to abuse the skill up system and it feels to an extent like playing Final Fantasy II because of I really don't skill up the way it's supposed to. Why do I have to spam protect on generals in besieged to see any form for skill up at all for enhancing magic? Why do I have to nuke undead with cures to see my healing magic skill move at all? Why do I have to spam tier 1 spells to level up elemental magic really fast? Also I find it stupid that it takes so long to skill up something like a weapon. A dagger skills up much much faster than a scythe the way the system works. Because of warrior gets almost every skill in the game with a good rating with each of them, I find myself holding a lot of mobs and use retaliation and sit there for 8 hours making a skill go from 200 to 300. Holding mobs in this game is a bad thing because of it hinders other players to progress with something they need from a specific mob you're probably holding.

If they're going to keep the system the way it is, I think they should change the way you skill up on. Like parrying and guarding could level up without proccing. If you're using a strong spell or a weapon with a big delay on it, I think you should be able to see more skill ups like you'd get maybe 2.5 levels of a stone v instead of the regular 0.5 if you're lucky. I think enhancing and healing magic should level up as fast as they would if you were abusing the generals or nuking undead with cure 1s.

I realize this could be considered blasphemy, but how about changing to a higher level camp when you feel your skills are getting too far behind. You aren't forced to stay synced in the mines or CN. The xp might not be as fast, but you are trading off by getting SU.

With the skilling up on DC changes, anyone who finds themselves on a 90 job with sub-par skills needn't look much farther than our friendly crab buddies. Assuming an A skill, the low-60s cabs in Vunk can get someone to their first L3 WS and a bit beyond. Paired with Sigil, you won't be hit too often or too hard, though you'll want to /DNC (I wouldn't even bother with sambas) if you can't natively heal yourself with cures or drains. Since this'll leave a lot of people around 250, you can then hop up to crabs in Mis(A) with 3 regen atmas. If you feel like you slow down too much around 310, migrate on over to Grauberg and pick on the crabs there.

If you can secure a BRD/WHM, even better. But really, there's nothing hard about it, just some tedium.

I definately agree with the OP. Campaign skill ups yes please!

With all the changes to the game, less and less people are levelling in the traditional ways. It seems most people are happy to leech from 30+, and those who arent are forced to either solo, level sync in Qufim or the Dunes, join GOV groups or participate campaign battles and sacrifice there skill ups. It seems very few people are willing to accept an invite to an old fashioned 30+ party nowadays.

I've recently levelled to 55 solo as Blu/Bst, and then levelled to 75 in campaign battle. Taking time out every couple of levels to recap my skills was a PITA.

I wish this was less common!

Last night I was lucky enough to get an invite to a traditional 6 man none Aby party, we were doing imps in the Mire. I was pretty excited, having not had an old fasioned party for about 2 years. It was total fail!

In all my years of playing I have have never seen such a whiff fest! It didnt last long and I left the group with less XP than I joined with.

I would very much like to see alternate methods of skilling up added. The current situation encourages high level players to kill droves of too-weak enemies in lower level areas, which makes it difficult for those of us who want to level the traditional way or through Fields of Valor. My girlfriend is currently having a **** of a time trying to level her Thf/Bst through the 60's because every viable camp she goes to has at least one level 90 player mass-killing the mobs she would normally use as pets and prey (I think this might also have to do with the Magian Weapons trials, but I'm not really up to speed on all of the changes to the game since I left).

I realize that there aren't many players these days who try to play the game traditionally, but some of us aren't in a race to the endgame content, and while I like that it's possible now to level jobs quickly and easily, since there are certainly jobs I would like to level for utility but wouldn't want to grind out 90 levels on in a traditional XP party, there has to be a better solution than the current situation, which is boring for players looking for skillups and frustrating for players looking for an echo of the oldschool FFXI experience.

I like the Campaign idea, since it gives high level players looking to skill up a dynamic situation with other objectives beyond simply watching 0.1's and 0.2's scroll past the screen occasionally, which would probably make the whole process a lot less mindnumbing.

Honestly, with a little bit of accuracy gear, atmas, and maybe food (can't remember if I used sushi or saltena) I got from 70 polearm to 200+ in a worm party. You really don't have to for skill up on little mobs anymore. Just go in and hope for some haste and equip some acc/DA or TA atmas. I've been skilling up a lot of weapons in worm parties. I use Horned Beast for acc, Apoc, and VV for TP regain and then spam any multi-hit weapon skills I have. Many skillups to be had. Don't forget to use champion's/stalwarts tonics whenever they pop.
