Last night I went to upgrade my Tantra Gaiters to Tantra Gaiters +1. Well, I had 9 seals and went to drop one, since you only need 8, and ended up dropping them all! I know, a total noob mistake. I've made similar mistakes since returning to FFXI, after a 2 year break, and would like to see an option to drop a selected amount.

Maybe SE could implement an option to drop a variable amount of items, similar to when you're selling items to npc's, when dropping items as to prevent others from doing so as well. Just a thought.

When most people drop items, it's to clear up an inventory slot (meaning, if it's stacked, drop the whole thing), so for most people this kind of thing would just be an added annoyance.

If you need to separate 1 item from its stack, select the manual sort option, select the stacked item in question, and select it again without moving its position.

You can also shuffle one over to your mog sack or satchel, trade the 8, and then move back the 1 and drop it from your inventory when you're done.

Even if dropping 1 was an option, I wouldn't have felt okay about it until I had traded in the 8 I needed and had one left over and totally useless. Dropping items is scary regardless of how the interface is set up.

Horrible idea to me-- the number of times I drop stacks or partial stacks of near worthless items: thousands.

The number of times I drop very important items, that I spent time getting: .....
