Anecdotes are coming out that the drop rates in new dyna are off the bottom of the charts. Such as 4 byne singles in a 50+ mob kill run.

I think you guys tightened the faucet a little too much here, no?

Before, we used the cities as the main sources of currency. We were one of the last dyna shells that did a full zone tour every month, cleaning out every mob we had time for. And yet, most runs we still only saw 300-400 coins in cities (and as low as 150 on bad days.) In Northlands, we were lucky when we broke 200 coins.

I know you said you planned to adjust the currency drop rates to reflect the increased ability to enter dynamis, but let's do some math here.

Previously, any given person could enter Dynamis twice a week.

In those two runs, assuming double clears and no lucky triple 100 drops, you could expect to see about 800 coins.
800 x 64 = 12.5 coins per person on average for 6-7 hours worth of time (3.5 hours max each run.)

So, let's translate that into 7-8 hours under the new system, or 4 runs.

4 coins x 4 runs = 16 coins in the same amount of time, for 18 people (assuming the same people go in every day.)

These drop rates sound an awful lot like the drop rates people see in Campaign battles... i.e. not worth doing the event for.

I don't have a horse in this race any more. I took four years and completed Gjallarhorn. But you got the hopes of a lot of people up, people who expected a slight nerf in drop rates, not a total buzzkill. So much for any of them completing a relic weapon! Currency rates are going to go up, not down.

And where is our ability to break 100s? How the hell am I expected to distribute coins fairly if I can't break 100s?!

Doesn't dynamis need staggers on mobs now, to get currency and such?

Well, only the NMs can be staggered... and without things like discernment it's very hard to find what the staggers are because the NMs are unbelievably weak. There's hardly any difference between most of them and the regular mobs, from what I've been seeing.

I'm pretty sure I staggered something with Steal last night, too (definitely wasn't any WS or spell), so it's not just the same kind of stuff that we've been doing it in Abyssea with.

Sell 100, split gil?

I thought that's how it was already done.

Edit: Scratched out a since-proven-incorrect statement. >_>

But what good is that for the people that want currency, not gil if they can't buy currency with the gil they make because of the shortage of currency due to the lower drop rates. Breaking 100's into single's would allow dynamis shells to repay their members with the currency they seek rather then gil that they might not need.

Honestly, if you stick around in a group with multiple people that want relics so that you end up having to split coins, you're already doing it wrong.

My LS lowmans everything so we usually optimize our jobs to the point where we're mainly playing the same ones. Was doing dyna today and wormed my way into going DNC. Started cycling my steps on mobs and almost always staggered them, getting 1-3 pieces per mob. I can't wait until tomorrow when I hear the words "Guen, bring your dnc again."

Staggered the RNG NM and got a 100 piece too.

I think I saw on BG something about using specific types of 'attacks' versus specific enemy jobs, and that they cycle within a set of triggers. Like, stagger first with a DNC JA, then automaton attack, then RDM enfeebling, etc.

Give it a few weeks and the playerbase will probably figure out the tricks, like we did with abyssea staggers.
(Ofcourse, if you categorically deny 'shunned' jobs, it might take a bit longer...)

Edit:Forget BG, go the PUP forums :D

We got some like 252 coins to split among 8 people in just 2 hours in Sandy.

Yeah, people have been discovering the secrets such as the TE thing and the stagger thing, so this drop rate will probably work out in the playerbase's favor in the end.
