This is an olde, but it still applies today.

With the ability to do character transfers on different servers, there needs to be a similar service for accounts.

There are numerous ways to make this safe with little no RMT hassle.

1. Charge for the service

2. Put a time limit on how many character transfers an account can partake in and the amount of characters to be transferred, i.e. 1 character a month.

3. Restrict it to accounts with the same credit card billing information. This almost ensures that it isn't RMT as they wouldn't have your billing address.

With FFXIV out, there is no reason to hold anything back from XI that can possibly enhance game play in a safe manner.

4. Both accounts must be at least a year old and contain at least 1 max level character.

5. Character transfer cannot be performed if credit card information has been changed in the past 12 months.

Also, game play is not enhanced by this. It's purely intended to create high level characters at $1 a month rather then $12.95.

It would enhance the gameplay for those couples/family members/roommates who made the mistake of starting on same account back in the day without realizing they'd still be playing 5 years later... :P That doesn't concern me anymore tho since ex quit so I got the account without hassle.

But it does work the other way too, I'd like to move my crafter mules from secondary account to main (about 2 years after starting playing we got a new computer that could run FFXI, so I got secondary account to play with when ex played with main account).

But, it's never gonna happen, it's not even about that they technically can't do it, they just won't (called them way back when first got secondary account if they could split one of our mains to another account and that was the reply).

I can understand why people want it, you just still gotta be careful about RMT fishiness and them just powerleveling a character on one account to migrate to another when they're ready to sell. Overall, I'd probably say the system should require a call in, have billing information for both accounts (preferably calling from one of the phone numbers), and possibly be region locked.

Will never happen. 2 accounts means 2 12.95/mo charges, 1 account is only 1 12.95/mo charge its a money loser.

And for some it means they'll just cancel the less used account, while SE may gain another $11.95 if it's one character going to another (losing $1 from the initial). They could even charge $20 to do it. Whatever.
