I am currently working on the elemental staves for my blm. While nice I have a question fo rSe.

WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?

I know have 2 staves called Teiwaz with different stats. One is for whm with Cure potency 15% and the other is the Fire staff. True at LVL 80 they do have different names but what about mages betweeen 75-79?

How on Vandiel do we macro those in? Please rename the LVL 75 staves.

You macro them in by not carrying both at the same time.

Why would you ever need to carry a cure staff and a fire staff at the same time? Hell, for that matter, why would you even make a fire staff if you didn't already have thunder/ice?

Alternatively, get with the times and get 80 already.

Either way, this is not something that they are likely going to change.

I'm BLM 75 I have 8 staffs. I wil have 8 staffs with magian. Why carry a cure staff on blm? I do cure myself between pulls. I AM not wasting time to swap staves from gobbiebag to satchel. A mob could resist sleep or awaken during that few seconds, then you'll be lying face down.

Then equip them manually, or get to 80.

Again, you are very unlikely to see a solution to this because giving the lv80+ staves different names WAS their solution. Level 75 was so yesterday, anyway.

Not much of a solution for 75-79 now is it? Might as well stay with HQ....

Sorry Fyn, but "get to 80" isn't a good solution to the problem he's having.

Also, to the OP, this issue has been brought up SEVERAL times before your post, and currently it's along the lines of a "beating a dead horse" post.

SE screwed up just a bit on this one, it's been mentioned, and mentioned again. We all get it. We all don't understand what they were thinking. Maybe they'll change it, maybe not.

Yes, you might as well. Magian trials were not designed to make level 75 weapons.

I really don't care if it's a "good" solution or not. Right now, that, leaving some items at home, or manual equipping are your only solutions, unless someone has finally come up with a (illegitimate) plugin or somesuch that can discern between multiple items of the same name and be able to macro the correct one.

SE is not likely to fix this. Level 75 is yesteryear. One way or another, you can deal with this problem yourself.

In his defense, it is the SE solution. And we all know we can't expect anything better than half-assed.

I'm with Fynlar here. Leveling to 80 IS the solution. Abyssea offers such good exp rewards, you can get a level in a regular xp run easily. Up till then, you can stick with a single Teiwaz for macro purposes, and HQ staves for the rest.

PS2 limitations simply don't allow every single trial to have a uniquely named weapon. SE did cave in a little with the 80 staves, because we'll likely be running around with those for another 10 levels, but you can't expect every single trial to reward a differently named item.

What we need is the ability to give our items custom names, only visible to ourselves. That doesn't break the PS2, avoids exploiting and works for any past, present of future augmented items. It allows "MagCritRing" (Demon's Ring) as well as "Teiwaz I", "Teiwaz F" etc.

We should rename this forum from "FFXI Feedback" to "Rant and Vent while You Insult and Belittle SE".

Belittling people who aren't around is the best way to belittle people. It would have been a bad idea if they actually visited this place.

Never mind that doing all 8 staves will give you almost twice the amount of exp required to go from 75-80.

I have finished both the Ice and Thunder staves so far and have gotten around 50k of exp from each one....

SE could have easily fixed it by letting us append the trial number to the name. The database gets some sort of unique ID assigned to it when you log a trial, just look at the description to get the number to use. The trial ID is bound to the item and prevents you from logging that same trial number again until you turn the staff back in and close it out. for example, macroing in something along the lines of /equip Main "Teiwaz 841" could have easily allowed us to equip the second tier staff in the darkness family.

Guess they just weren't thinking once again...
