Yeah, if her parents (mother/stepfather whatever) are working and it's summer I can see her being left at home for the day (Kuwoobie said she has an older sister) and whiling it away on Minecraft or WoW or some other online game. Heck, we played a bunch of video games as kids; we just didn't have the internet yet.

It's sort of irrelevant though. Kuwoobie can't make this girl be supervised or not be on the internet. He can only directly affect how HE interacts with her.

I get playing online for long periods of time during summer (and weekends, I suppose), but I think there's a difference between chatting online with people you're playing a game with and chatting with a single specific much older adult male, to the point of following him around to different games, and having conversations that are well outside the boundaries of game playing. As you say, these aren't things that any of us can control or affect, but this behavior should be seen as big ol flashing warning lights to Kuwoobie. I get that he's trying to help, and for all we know maybe it is help. I just think that the odds suggest otherwise. Maybe in a feel good summer movie the young kid in a terrible home situation reaches out on the internet and finds a kindly father figure and learns the meaning of family, or whatever. Sadly, in the real world this sort of thing doesn't tend to happen. In the real world, said needy attention starved kid will steadily increase the demands on the adult, forcing him to choose between her and his own family, and making him feel like he's hurting her if he doesn't comply. At some point, he will still not sufficiently meet her demands (because they're unrealistic) and tension will erupt, which will likely result in her lashing out with accusations about him that will come crashing down on him (possibly quite literally in the form of police coming through his front door).

At which point, all the insistence that it was all just fatherly and friendly and whatnot will not matter against statements that he's never felt this way with anyone before in his life, and comments about how much older she acts than her real age, etc, etc, etc. It'll look 'bad'.

Maybe that wont happen. I don't know. I'm not the one there having the conversations. But the second someone starts talking about their alternate (violent) personalities, my response is to distance myself as quickly as possible, not tell that person that I'm ok with being hurt if it makes them feel better. I just don't see this ending well.

I agree with Timelord, there's nothing weird about any of this. You guys are all just dinosaurs, waiting for your place in the fossil record.

You lot'll be first against the Pleistocene come the paradigm shift.

I think Ari also had experiences like Kuwoobie's, I know at least that she has long chats with younger people, not sure on the specifics.

Well, she did ask for nudes from that fifteen year old kid, you know, that egomaniac dude's little help elf. So... Maybe not the best example to bring up in Kuwoobie's defence, which is obviously what we are both committed to doing.

I also dealt with people much older than me a bunch while spending entirely too much time video gaming, though I was fourteen or so rather than eleven. Mostly mmoin'. I mean, MC itself takes five ******* hours, so that's more than half your lot. If you meet up up to farm flask mats first, and maybe head back to Goldshire afterwards for a quick denouement cyber fuck, you can easily wile away 9 hours quite innocently.

Yeah, and you know the best way to secure those raid drops is e-prostitution.

I know Ari received nudes from that kid, but I was unaware that she asked for them. As an aside I trashed his punk friend pretty hard, he ended up deleting his Facebook, Skype and Match.com profiles out of shame.
