How do you walk?

When I walk around my house, other peoples house, etc, I tend to step with the ball of my foot, to avoid the "stomp" of the heal-toe action. When I'm at work walking around the shop floor I just do heal-toe because it is a bit sturdier of a walk.

The reason I wonder is because the person in the room above me is very heavy footed. And for some reason they seem to walk around for 2-3 hours every night. *Stomp Stomp Stomp Stomp*. Clearly a Heal-Toe walker.

I have very large feet. they make noise however I walk unless I am trying to walk in sneaky style. I tend to hit with the inner "pad" of the big toes first, then the outer edge and then the heal. Which is wierd. I know.

I never really paid attention to how I walk. I just know that I don't make any sound when I do. Seriously, I can walk right to person and if they don't see me, they have no idea I'm in the room. I'm not a small person, so it generally scares the hell out of people the first few times it happens to them. It's not intentional either, I just move very quietly, I'm a ninja like that.

Pretty much what Turin said. I am 6'2 and weigh about 210 lbs, and people frequently comment about how I don't make any noise when I walk. I'd imagine the type of shoes a person wears also makes a big difference.

My apartment is all on the ground floor so I don't have to worry about it, plus I'm pretty tiny at 5'9" and skinny.

I've tried, but I can't seem to walk heel-toe. I always step on the ball of my foot. It might be an old habit from when I was young and lived in a creaky house. I would get up early to watch cartoons and my parents would get mad if I woke them.

I'm small and step pretty lightly. My husband however if downstairs when I'm walking around above him, accuses me of stomping.

I've threatened to record him walking around upstairs when I'm down... but meh.

My feet supinate, i.e. they roll out to the sides while walking and running. This makes me especially light footed, it seems, unless I'm wearing boots. Then I stomp.

I have very flat feet and one of the exercises my Orthopedist told me to do when I was younger is walk on my tip-toes and spend as much time bare-foot as possible. Even now, while wearing shoes, I still walk mostly on the balls of my feet. My heels rarely touch and you can tell by the wear pattern on my shoes. I have friends and co-workers that have threatened multiple times to make me wear bells so I don't scare them by just turning up somewhere. Most of the time, I'm not even trying to be quiet or sneaky and still end up scaring the beejesus out of someone.

I consider myself heavy-footed, though thankfully I'm light enough it cancels things out to some degree. It's the kids who are the extremes of the family. The oldest has impeccable balance and is incredibly light on her feet. The youngest is her polar opposite, more clumsy (for lack of a better word) and extremely heavy when she walks.

It's actually awful because the oldest will be bouncing around the house, going wild like kids do, and we'll barely notice. Her little sister get excited and joins in and "BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!" we have to quickly jump in and tell them to stop before we get angry neighbors. I'm certain the youngest thinks it's incredibly unfair. Smiley: lol

I strut.

Only way to walk, in my opinion.
