Which posters that weren't banned or muted are you happy that they disappeared?

Edit: and an easier one", which posters that disappeared do you miss?

How old are all of you admins, and do you have beards? Are those things related? If you do have beards, what kind, and do they have names?

I've always thought mods should have beards. Even the female mods.

As to which of those is the easy question and which one is the hard one, I actually think they are reversed. Basically i'm not happy about any of the posters over the years dissappearing. Even if I personally find someone annoying, if they are brining something of value to the forum and increasing the number of posts for people to be able to respond to, they have value. And if they were more of a problem than the value they brought, I usually am pretty good about just removing the problem.

As for the ones that dissappeared, alot of them. Think of it this way. You start out your first day of school with a group of people who you don't know, but they grow on you over time. the next year you come back and some are there, and some are gone, and each year the mix is a bit different. In these forums, it's been more like you go to school, start out with a group of people, but then 99% of them move away over the next 3 years. to slowly be replaced by a different batch. but then they move away too. etc. etc. I have a whole list of names who I wonder what happened to them, but those would be meaningless except to the 3 or 4 other people still here from around that era. former co-workers I miss working with, friends, rivals, even the occasional antagonist. People move on, and from forums they move on even quicker. Less so from the Asylum than other places, but still they go, or start coming back less frequintly if nothing else.

Boxer or Briefs?
DC or Marvel?
Which poster were you the most delighted to use the banhammer on?
Invasive TSA search or reading an entire gbaji post, which would you prefer to be subjected to on a Wednesday?
If you could have one forum personality back who would it be?
Which MMO portion of the website gets the most traffic these days?
Have I rated more people up or down over the course of my time at Allakhazam?
Monkey paw or a magic lamp, which would be your preferred wish delivery system?
Are you keeping count of how many questions I have asked?
If you were going to leak the deep dark secrets of Allakhazam, which 2nd world country would you run to in order to avoid extradition?

Also, more of a statement side of things, an open apology to all of the admins I trolled or said childish, spiteful things to along the way. Thank you for not banning my sorry **** along the way. I hope that life is treating you all well.

edit **** whats his face for beating me to ban/missed poster.

I'm 34. If it's a weekend I usually have somewhat of a beard. I grow hair at an insane rate for some stupid reason, so if I don't shave for a couple of days, I can grow a pretty formidable beard. But normally I don't have one. I think the average age of our admins is around 30-ish +/- 5, and almost none of them who I have seen have beards.

Nope, no beard. Can't stand them. Not enough dwarf blood in me.

1. Panties?
2. I'm indifferent, both have good comics.
3. I don't think I've ever banned anyone other than spammers.
4. TSA search

8. Magic lamp... who the **** carries around a severed paw? Ugh.
9. Does me numbering them even in your quote answer this? I was amused when I numbered up to 9 there and saw that question.

It's one of those games that doesn't really fit well with the other sites, so no one really knows what to do with it. Don't get me wrong, it's very popular, but is it a MMO? there aren't really quests or a set database, so it's hard to tie it into the main archatexture as well as the others are. That and it never really got much traffic so its not been a priority.

Its not really an MMO, no. I feel that if it weren't buried the way it is and had more of a chance it could generate more traffic.

I notice quite a few people manage to find the forum through search engines, but do not see anything to stick around for. I look at sites like Planet Minecraft, which pull massive amounts of traffic-- often more than they can handle, and wonder why Zam can't do the same kind of thing. It might be slow at first, but I can definitely see a small section dedicated to Minecraft eventually becoming a hit if it is played out right. I'd be more than willing to help, if needed.

Why do some entries in the EQ bestiary that have screenshots don't have that tiny green and white rectangle thingy on the left that means there's a picture of them?

Or does that rectangle thingy mean something else?

That's a good question. I'm pretty sure that means there's a picture. Can you link an example or two?

You can see that Hagbletha doesn't have one, but then you click her name and she does have one.

Narra Tanith in South Karana is another example.

I just had a really long answer typed out, then accidentally closed this window. *cries* Here goes again...

Oh geez, so now that you linked Narra, that made my original answer wrong, anyway. My original answer was that Hagbletha's picture was added to the wiki Media page, instead of by using the "add image" button. But Narra isn't like that, and now I'm utterly confused.

Briefs
Marvel, mainly because thats what my Dad likes.
I read all the posts anyways...
Allakhazam!
FFXIV if you count just the "Zam" brands, WoW if you count all the WoW related sites in the mix.
You have rated roughly 30,000 times in your career, and been rated in turn anothe 14,000, not counting the automatic forum sefl rates that occur when you post. The rates are about evenly split of what you yourself gave out, though you were "nicer" with your rates earlier in your rating career. these days I'd say if you just looked at the last 2 years worth you are trending to more 1.00's than 6.00's. You also have one of the larger rating pools of anyone aside from myself heh. On a side note to any admins reading this, never, ever open my rating history. it will kill the forum for a good half an hour.
Magic lamp seems more survivable than a monkeys paw long term. Monkey paw wishes you are pretty much garunteed to end up unplesently. Magic lamp you still might get screwed, but you at least have a good chance of getting a decent outcome if you word it right and are pure of heart or something like that,
Nope! I lost count after 0.
I suppose it would have to be one with no extradition treaty, and something not anywhere near china. Maybe lichtenstein? I keep threatening to invade it someday.

And thank you, you came very, very close a few times along the way heh. I do appriciate that though, and for my part I'm sorry if I was more cranky after some of those than I had a right to be. I'm doing well, as are most of the other admins I think, I hope you are also doing well

Why is it so hard to find out what Karma Score is? I got labeled a troll the first day I got onto this site. I paid a year at advance and sent messages. I have not seen any messages back. The people on you're forum bashing, never even explained how this forum works. I assumed trolls are people that camp people threads. I did not know that you can be a troll for making threads and venting. I remembered this site from 2003 and could not remember my old account and email. From when I played FFXI and used this forum for that. From what I have been trying to find is how long does Sub-Default last. One post I found from 2007 said you have to post a lot. I have never been a heavy poster and I have run forums before so I know you can see isp and all post. You should be able to see I have not been on this forum that long.

Oh geez, that one is a hard one. There have been good memories and bad here to a degree. Allanois was certanly fun and memorable, as has meeting various other admins and forum users over the years. The day I got admin was fun too. On the bad side, 9-11 here, the various death threats, the Magi incident, the various Death annoyncements of forum users over the years. those are all affecting and not good memories. Announcing major forum improvements and getting to shape the development somewhat was fun though. Seeing people get married from meeting in the forum, etc. Definitly one of those.
Some of those things end up in the collected forum historical and significant event thread: http://everquest.allakhazam.com/journal.html?user=4491&mid=114533705572534025

No one actually. There are about 6 people that rated maybe 10 individual threads throughout that whole post, but almost every post in that thread is either at the base karma of the person who posted, or has been rated up. Is that the correct thread?

Yes, current rate to buy an admin account is presently $11,000,000.00 U.S. currancy or negotiable bearer bonds. Stamped asseyed bullion or certified Gems are also acceptable. Or a Citation X Jet. Get one of us any of those things and I'm certain you will have an admin account in mere moments!

When an admin quits, their gold plated custom admin armor is returned to the eternal vault of Justice, there to stand in a place of Honor or Shame for all eternaty (for example, we use Magi's helmet as a place to store wombat poop!) amongst the Hall of Administrative Justice. There you will find statues of all admins, past, present and future stretching onwards until the end of time. Upon the last day of admining, the mighty hammer of Bann is afixed in a suitably heroic pose to the statue of the then former admin, to preside over the captured spammers for all eternity until the final battle. Interesting side note, Exodus's statue was actually a giant wheel of cheese.

4. Who karma-bombed this thread?

No one actually. There are about 6 people that rated maybe 10 individual threads throughout that whole post, but almost every post in that thread is either at the base karma of the person who posted, or has been rated up. Is that the correct thread?
Huh; I seem to recall an admin half-answering this very question saying it was a naughty person who is no longer on the site. I figured enough time has gone by that I might now find out. (My posts were certainly red-arrowed as most were good or better during the thread and when I looked several months later while bored and reading my bookmarks, they were almost all Decent.)

Native table support for posts?

We'll look into it, we have list support though so tables would add some complexity that could be abused.

One does not simply walk into Admin Justice hall. you have to be on a noble and just quest. People sometimes like to use our doom volcano to dispose of things, etc.

I'm a half elf damnit! Not no stinkin unwashed wood elf (specifically a half elf, half dragon as per the ongoing character backstory I never finished for my Eq1 character)

There are no rates appended to those posts now. The only way to remove those all would have been a full dev purge, which breaks things. Are you sure it wasn't a different thread?

There is nothing in your admin notes officially, and I remember some grumpyness around the IGN thing, but the closest you ever came to getting warned and or yelled at was during the more recent forum redesign when you were fairly vocal about some of the design choices. I think it was either the quote widths or the overall display or something like that. At any rate something in those particular posts really set someone who shall remain nameless but wasn't myself off and they actually wanted me to mute you for a while over something that had no merit whatsoever, to which I replied something along the lines of "are you absolutly @#%^ing insane? Do you want to just destroy the forum and be done with it?" and they relented. I didn't mention it at the time because you were somewhat irritated as it was, and I didn't want to make things worse.

I think you also annoyed Fleven once with an image of some sort, but I forget what that was. Other than that, not that I can think of.

Lol, []

It's ok, SPG's secret admin notes are probably all compliments.

May my personnel file be redacted?

edit: forgot this one: If they were identical content in the same thread from two devices, one would error out with a duplicate post message. If they were different content it would just write two different posts with the exact same timestamp in two different threads. Thats actually one of the tactics some of our spammer robot friends use to try and flood the place, not realizing we just ban the user account if that happens.

Besides nuking bad posts, can karma do anything?
There are various levels of Nuke associated with it. an admin nuke is just a bigger version of the same -2.00 nuke that applies after two consecutive user 1.00 rates on a given thread. Beyond that, it's not designed to do much else. There used to different karma rates you could assign, 1.00 through 6.00, but almost no one ever used the middle ones.

What's your favourite job in the original FF?
Whichever one translates into "ranger"

How much woodchucks could a wood chuck if a wood could chuck woodchucks?
It depends, are we talking the entire lifetime of a single woodchuck? or just how much at a given time? or the entirety of all wood chucked by all woodchucks?
What are those tiny (little more than dots) red bugs on the stones on my drive?
Stone mites. Be careful, they will eat through your nose hairs!

How do I post images? Is it [img] [/.img]?
You don't directly post an image unless you ar an admin. The only available user image posting method is uploading the image using "your imageds" then posting the tag for whatever image you uploded.

What are admin notes, and does asking about them warrant having rumours about me started? Can I be told what The Matrix is?
Admin notes are the user account specific notes fields that admins put notes about a various poster. For example, your redacted for security purposes admin notes say:
Admin Notes:
Signup IP: xx.xx.xxx.xx
Signup Time: Tue May 22 13:55:44 2012
Watch this user, they may in fact be a spy for the Lithuanian Mafia!

And no one can tell you what the Matrix is, you have to experiance it for yourself! (because telling you it's just a giant computer simulation ran by crazy and inimical AI's would be too easy)
Is there a user heatmap?

Sort of. there is a top 250 posters map.

Well, her account is still flagged as admin, so I assume she still works here, but I haven't seen here recently either. I do know she has been really involved with her other sites promoting enders game and the hunger games, and she apperently got to meet Harrison Ford, which is totally not fair. Beyond that, I dunno? she was hired as an admin just before I was, so if she is gone, that means there are only a couple people that had admin before me left. which is scary.

While it's still flagged as admin, it's more just honorary. Our Pikko's gone on to much bigger bentos with her Game/Games sites.

I'm 27 and I do indeed have a beard. I don't think such a thing is necessarily related, but that's just my opinion. Mine's just kind of a scruffy, pre-lumberjack sort of thing, and I don't have a name for it, though I am open to suggestions.

1) Did you ever watch the 2009 Star Trek movie with the Romulans using Red Matter to cause black holes? Probably not that.

2) Can cause many, many people to get emotional for no real reason.

3) Fighter, because swordchucks yo.

4) 42, which is the answer to all things.

5) Those would be mites, which aren't bugs, but arachnids and therefore relatives of the spider.

6) Yes

7) Admin notes are notes that are on all accounts that let us know various bits of information, such as any indiscretions, when they took place, what actions were taken and by whom, etc. It's primarily there so that admins can assess someone's account without necessarily needing to get in touch with an admin who has dealt with the individual before. Asking about your own would likely not cause issues, but obviously we couldn't divulge another member's without their permission.

And no, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to experience it for yourself.

8) Kao's always stealing maps, so if there is, he's probably got it.

Sort by karma, and calculate by amount of pages with negative scores. Anyone can do this. My old account had 202 nuked posts, outside of journals (640 including journals Smiley: laugh).

Did you just into Kao's post, Vlor? Hao

I thought that film was a flop, and didn't see it. I made the mistake of reading reviews and listening to those quasi intellectual film critic type characters talk about it until I concluded it was probably as bad as the Garfield film. I could say the same of a lot of reboots.

Is this one of those people who get emotional over karma?

The actual physical corporeal shell of Clstr 7, in all it's mac servery evilness is presently residing as a coffee table somewhere in Nizdaar's house. The malevolent evil AI entity that is Clstr 7 though is alive and well, living in the evil AI witness protection program. Last I heard it was running some sort of point to point teleportation device testing facility in an abandoned cake factory for the Apature Science corporation.

Are you considering allowing users to rate a user a different direction if, at a later time, they say something that clarifies their previous post and you realize you just rated them down for nothing?

Will you be doing away with the karma system's up vote/down vote in favor of a likes/dislikes system where anonymity isn't an issue? Once someone is at sub-default or excellent, you have no idea if they are still getting rated up or down. In fact, when I see excellent posts, I just leave them alone because, barring new posters, they aren't going to see a visible change in my rate up. I'd like to know how many times a certain post has been rated up, at the very least.

Do you plan on merging the class and job forums in the FF14 section? There is little to no activity on almost all of them anyways: discussion largely takes place in General.

Do you plan on adding any other perks to premium? Right now, all I'd gain is the ability to change my avatar to a custom image (something most forums offer for free)? Everything else is superfluous. Would love to contribute because I spend a lot of time here but paying money for a pretty picture doesn't quite seal the deal!
