I was all dressed up to go to lunch for my mother's birthday when she rang me up to say she'd totalled her car and couldn't come. Bad smash, everything moved in slow motion, and she doesn't realize it but she's still in shock. Luckily no other physical problems. My mother has found out my middle sister loves my mother more than my mother thinks she does. This is a bonus.
I don't think that reverance or respect for the dead needs the dead to be hidden from sight completely. It is the attitude that you bring, as a witness to a dead body, that matters, not the display and witnessing of a dead body, per se.
