People complained about latency.

People are still complaining about latency, but now we can blame Canada since the NA/EU data center is in Montreal.

Would install the game, but they insist on using captcha for every goddamn thing, and I can't for the life of me read that sh*t!

Addendum: ******' hate captcha. I get that robots can't read crap like that, but neither can I.

I really like the game so far. I just wish they had some sort of thief/ninja/rogue type class.

Supposedly that's the first class they're adding. Not sure when it'll be though.

Managed to install it, but so far it hasn't won me over. Spent the first 10 minutes just reading text and watching cutscenes without voice sounds. Pretty boring. Spent the next 20 minutes doing absolutely no killing of anything at all. Also fairly boring.

Way too much text accompanying each quest. Wanna kill squirrels/pick roses for moneys? Okay, but first you have to click through these ten frames of text about what's going on right now. Ugh. Is this an Asian thing or just a Final Fantasy thing? I don't mind there being text, but having to click through every damn frame gets old real fast.

No, as far as I can tell, you just clickity-click to progress the story, but only after a certain amount of time has elapsed (can't spam-click through it). Takes forever to pick up any random quest in the game.

You can blame all of Canada for something happening in Montreal the same we can blame all of America for something happening in Dallas or Austin.

And there goes any interest I might have had in the game.

Odd, I always spam through the quest text. The only ones you can't are the cutscenes where there is animation that sometimes need to finish.

Anything that's not a main story/class quest of some sort can be spammed right through. It's only CS text that can't be spammed.

There is a lot of main story/class content though but I wouldn't call that a negative..

That must have been it, then. Just remember spamming and nothing happening most of the time, but I imagine the main story quest takes up a bit of space early on.

@work t.t
Was going to make a character with same name as my main, and if friends want to xfer when that goes free, move over to Ultros and get a free name change out of it.

Can you make a character, save the appearance, and then just load that up in character creation in the morning or something, before you go in to work?

You can, actually. It's an idea.

The problem with spamming through the quest text is that you often miss vital clues, like "This monster is really hard. Take this acid to weaken it." If you use the item on the monster the task becomes face roll easy. If you missed the bit about using the item and just start trying to kill it, you're going to have a bad time.

The NPCs in cutscene fights are also always shouting out helpful instructions. "Focus on that guy! I have this one!" "Stand your ground and don't give an inch!" (e.g. don't move) versus "Watch out for his lava pit!" In the GLD class quests there was a big one - "Make sure you're drawing attention away from your healer!" The solo quests double as tutorials for how to play the game.

Ignore the dialog, and you'll miss out on some pretty important aspects of game play.

It's this guy. They're normally the event/quest/information NPCs in the FF MMOs.

Level a tanky-tank, willya? So many White Mages - I've never seen so many healers in an MMO before.

When I was last on, I mostly saw Paladins. Whm was second.

And it's because the queues are SO much shorter for tanks. I was seeing 16+ minute queues on my Whm, so I can't imagine what it was like for DPS. Waits that long were relatively rare for my DPS when I played WoW, so it was weird. Especially since healers get instant queues until level 30, when suddenly there are a whole lot more healers (due to Scholar) and their times plummet.
