We're seeing my Dad for the first time in almost a year this weekend, and I'm thinking I'll need to stock up on the alcohol to get me through. Mrs. and him aren't getting along too well as of late, which is really no surprise given how things have been. He's not one to get along well with many people the last few years. Mom's not really much better. Anywho, given all the wonderful tension that's on the horizon I had to ask the question:

How's your relationship with your in-laws?
Burning hatred with the fury of 1,000 suns Smiley: mad:2 (10.5%)
Meh, whatever:4 (21.1%)
Good actually, why?:5 (26.3%)
The best part of being single is... Smiley: cool:8 (42.1%)
Total:19

I don't hate my inlaws. If they get out of line I can always tell them I licked their daughter's nipples.

Well, at least you didn't tell em about all that other stuff.

And I'm single, so yeah...

You have to save something to talk about at Christmas dinner.

Good pretty much all around. My sister-in-law is looking to marry a real diptard but that's her problem I suppose. Given where we live, I don't need to see him more than once or twice a year. No issues with the mother/father/brother in-law.

Oh, you're stuffing the turkey? That's close to what I did to your daughter last night, fun times.

Yeah I was surprised how much stuffing you can cram in there.

No, I've never cooked a turkey, why?

Meh, whatever. I don't care for her mother as she's ******* insane, but I also am remarkably gifted at completely ignoring people(unless I'm trolling them here). Her father's alright, can be quite the *** at times, but I just do the same thing to me at those times, ignore him.

Her with my parents is alright. She adores my mother, as most people do. And can't really be bothered with my father and step mom, cause you know, she lives with me and there's only so much a person can deal with when it comes to people who are self absorbed.

Mine varies from "meh" to "burning hatred" depending on how much Fox news they've been watching.

When we interact face to face, we pretend that everything is good and we're chums.

This is considered normal in the South.

Reminds me of a coworker (from Mississippi) who literally checked out his wife from high school and married her without any notification. Needless to say, his in-laws didn't like him too much!Smiley: lol

Remember your in-laws are the people that gave birth to and raised your spouse.

My husband is very close to his family. It's been in my best interest to get along with them. I'd call them difficult - but, meh. They're very concerned with appearance and keep a lot of secrets - that got me in trouble in the early days. After years of sucking up and bowing down, I now have the upper hand with them. Of course it got easier once we moved 1500 miles away from them.

My Dad, however, has never really warmed up to my husband.

My former in-laws are still super friendly to me. And my soon-to-be-in-laws say I am the best thing that ever happened to their daughter, pretty much.

I'm good with parents, it seems. Though my fiancee would have you believe I ******* walk on water or some ****. I keep telling her I'm an *******, but she seems to not believe me.

Well, she did have some skeletons in her closet. One still had some meat on it, but then I figure I can bury mine in there too.

On another topic, anyone know the international shipping rules for human remains?

Now, does that fall under the plants/foods thing? I never know with these things. Shame that I have no backyard, it made it all much easier.

Send in many different packages of varying size and type, at different times, and from different locations. Look through the window so the teller is always someone different as well. Pack in Tupperware with coffee, along with other food types with strong odors surrounding it and declare that it's food items for whoever you're sending it to.

I'm supposed to say this is all hypothetical.

Hmmm, food items eh? Well I actually do bake really well. Do you know that you can put zucchini into brownies without changing the flavour or texture noticeably... Gives one ideas... Saaay, anyone want some nutella brownies?

I'd either completely desiccate the parts or hard freeze it before shipping.

My husband is today, this very day, at the wine show at Disney land. He'll splurge a couple hundreds of dollars on wine for me (he doesn't drink it but likes all the cool bottles..Smiley: rolleyes) and ship it home. It's illegal to ship wine to Maine. He breaks bad all for me (it's kinda hot).
