Furloughs are making my job much more difficult than it needs to be. Mondays and Fridays are "ghost towns" in reference to civilians. Normally, I wouldn't really care, but given that my unit rely heavily on civilians, no bueno.

Anyone else being affected by this?

What is a furlough in this context? 4-day working weeks? 3-day working weeks? I'm lost and I would be scared but I've done a lot of chanting Om recently. I'm still buzzed.

The civilians have to take at least one day off a week. So it's a 4 day work week for them. Everyone can't take them on the same day, so most people split the days. I guess to assuage the pain, they are given Mondays or Fridays to make it a 3 day weekend every week. The actual days that are taken are irrelevant, but the fact that there are only three days a week where everyone is present negatively affect business. Especially given the fact that they miss time for training in the 4 days that they are working...

I can't wait till this is over. I think it's complete BS that funds couldn't be taken away in another fashion. I've seen complete wastes of Federal money over the years, but to cut someone's salary is incompetent leadership in my opinion.

At least they get time off for their wage cuts.

Here in the private sector, they just cut our wages and still make us work the full expected hours...

That's most certainly true. I refrained myself from saying that to them, because I didn't want to potentially make the wound worse. However, I did have an instructor who ridiculed another employee for complaining when he makes a gabajillion dollars a year.

I enjoy make-believe words as much as the next gal, but this one looks like it's ready to topple over to the right.

HA! Didn't even notice... Need to start a thread where either I'm by myself or at least split in opinion. This is killing me. Maybe it was my inner me calling out to Gbaji for a long winded discussion over something irrelevant in life.
