My dad owns a sports bar. Due to weird local laws, in order to serve alcohol the patrons must be "members" of a "private club." In order to join said "private club," you just have to pay a "fee" of allowing the door guy to scan your ID. You just swipe your ID card, and if it doesn't read for some reason, the door guy manually enters in your license number / State / Expiration date.
