Obesity is the sign of the addiction, not the cause.

There are cattle ranches in parts of New York I'm told are actually parts of New York that aren't the city that everyone thinks of when they say New York. I think they're just parts of Vermont and Pennsylvania that they keep trying to push onto us so they don't have to be responsible for them.

I had to go up to Sullivan County (which is between Albany and NYC) for a conference and there were three others there from that vicinity, and another from Albany. I'm from Long Island. So the three locals were, in a friendly way, making fun of the guy from Albany, saying he was from "upstate." I interrupted and said, "Wait, he's from upstate? Then where are you guys from?" and they said, almost in unison, "Downstate." I then said, "Downstate? Then where am I from?" They all, including the guy from Albany, said "New York!" I thought, but didn't say, "Yeah, that's the way we feel at times also."

I figured that was where NY city dumps their trash, or is that the Jersey shore?

Not the shore, just Jersey.

It's always weird just leaving the city limits. It's like another country.

That is most certainly the plan. In the meantime, I'll make fun of Jersey anyway.

My favorite topic of mockery is currently this woman, who is running for our vacant senate seat.

I listened to an interview with her in which she said:

-that the Syrian opposition was all Al Qaeda, because her Syrian friend told her so.
-that we need to abolish Medicare/Medicaid, because they're the biggest barrier to the poor getting appropriate healthcare like they used to before.
-that free, volunteer clinics would completely remedy the issue through "trickle down charity" if the gov't stopped meddling... but guaranteed immunity from malpractice lawsuits for all volunteer physicians.

It just goes on and on. Thankfully, she's so frickin' insane that no one will vote for her.

Dammit! I need a better costume, I guess. Thought I could pull of the Mrs Doubtfire bit, but alas!
