My aunt gave me some freshly butchered goat meat. She tells me it kind of tastes like venison. She suggested lightly breaded and fried, but I'm not sure if I want to go that route.
I don't have much, about half a pound. Anyone suggest anything good to do with it?

Can't sleep, clown will eat me.
1-4 lbs. of goat meat (stew meat or bone-in cuts such as shanks or chops work well)
1/2 C. olive oil
1 Tbl. oregano
1 1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 Tbl. lemon juice
1 Tbl. white vinegar
2 tsp. garlic, minced
1 tsp. ginger, minced
Directions:
Set the goat meat aside. In a food processor, combine all remaining ingredients and pulse into a paste. Coat the goat meat completely with the paste, wrap it in aluminum foil and refrigerate. Marinate for at least two hours.
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Bake the goat, in the foil, for 40 minutes. Reduce the heat to 350 degrees and bake for an additional 2 hours. The meat is finished when the juices run clear. Let the cooked meat rest for 20 minutes before carving. Serve over rice.

Tandoor style Indian dishes are fabulous with lamb or goat. You can cook them in a crock pot.

Second I read the OP my first thought was Lamb Vindaloo, never tried with goat but I am sure it would be good.
That reminds me that I've got some elk burger in my freezer. That's some good eats. The elk steak was out of this world.

I can eat goat cheese. But I cannot eat goat meat. Too many childhood memories of playing with the goats and then they're killed the next day for stew. Oddly enough though, I have no problem eating bacon with the memories of playing with my baby piggy for my birthday, not realizing that it was going to be my birthday meal.

Flea has a story about being a little girl at her grandmother's. Grandma was preparing live guinea pigs for a meal while Flea was playing and called her over. Her grandmother had slit a pregnant one open and the fetal brood was squirming on the table. To an old woman who had probably butchered a bajillion guinea pigs in her time it was just an interesting thing but, needless to say, it put Flea off the meat forever and ever.

Baby pig = lechon. It's a Filipino tradition to have that dish at whatever celebration. It's succulent, moist, and melts on your tongue. Bacon is regular pig. Lechon is special pig.
