I know wombats don't smell great but it'll take more than superwombat stench to tear through a truck roof.

Thats what the ceramic sword thingies are for. Did I forget to mention they have massive cutting lasers hidden in them too?

Okay right. For my Ballistics module at university I have an assignment of planning an assassination. The ins and outs are as follows:

200m from target
Target in a moving armoured 4x4
Bullet resistant glass
light armour

So I know we have a bunch of military types here. So I figured I'd ask you guys for advice, because my first thought was f*cking
anti-material rifle with armour piercing incendiary BMG rounds. I mean, who doesn't love something that can kill a building paired with something that pierces armour and then catches fire?

Probably overkill, though. So, thoughts?

Whats the budget?

That's right, no explosives. Incendiary rounds are sort of allowed, because it's the bullet doing the actual damage to the target. I just like the idea of things catching fire after I shoot them.

Has to be fired from what's classified as a "firearm", so less than 20 mm calibre.

Try a 20mm cal ceramic tipped railgun slug. L10 BRG is rated to take .50 cal hits, so you need to get a little creative.

Well, in that case, there is no kill like overkill.

You'd have to get them to create a resonant field for those to ever get through.

The funny part is that you never even checked out the 20mm sniper rifle. They exist and have been used. There even was a movie with Dolph Lundgren using one as
a professional killer.

You can even check out the specs and buy one!

Technically speaking something which fires a 20mm projectile is no longer classified as a firearm. After that caliber it's a canon. Smiley: schooled

Use your courses on electricity and magnetism and build your own 19.99mm railgun and fire U238 shells?

Interesting loophole. I always wanted to build a railgun!

You could also do a coilgun, but it'd be an intensive setup to get it to punch the glass. It would be quieter, though.

Edit: bad linky thing!

Quieter for a tiny one maybe. Larger scale rail and coilguns have a fair amount of noise to them so far.

Source sound. Rails have contacting parts, coils don't. they also tend to arc plasma. you can also put noise reduction systems on a coilgun. Still hard to get one strong enough and small enough.

Here is a small, non-military grade handheld one.

Combine all three and give the guy a call, like so:

Nameless target. Basically there's some sort of legal issue with using real people as the subject of an assignment like this.

"undisclosed high-value target" sounds cooler. Smiley: cool

Like all real people? Or is something like a historically consistent Hitler assassination attempt okay?
