What was the weird bug that I smushed in my bathroom earlier this evening? It looked like a diamond-ish-shaped dirt pile, but it had an appendage that came out and was pulling it along really really slowly.

Is it likely an editorial on SE's latest shenanigans that questions the "WTF are you people doing over there" factor that has sprung up in recent weeks/months? If so, can you include a digital /eyepoke from me when you post it?

For any admin: what did you want to be when you grew up, and how close are you to doing that now?

Also, why does Vlorsutes hate Galkas? Enquiring minds want to know, and all that.

Probably

Horsemouth wrote:

The old Army of Kefka ffxi thread, some of the really old no nonexistant UBB forum ones, occasional others.

Horsemouth wrote:

Is over 18k posts a lot for a single thread?

Yes, but not the most ever

Horsemouth wrote:

I editted this post for quote fail and abbreviated your name, is that a problem?

That has been known to cause utter Kaos.

Horsemouth wrote:

No. the rest of us see the Phantom of Theophany

LebargeX wrote:

Me. Though the posts in question are from before I was an admin. Most of the oldest posts were on the precurser UBB forums which sadly have ceased existing entirely even for archival purposes.

LebargeX wrote:

Probably Darknight, though I haven't seen him in a while. Gbaji or Jophiel are also in the running for that if I exclude myself.

LebargeX wrote:

Depends on what size font you use!

marsupialboy wrote:

African or Panamanian?

Belkira wrote:

Possibly a stink bug. maybe a snail of some sort?

I'm just mad they haven't added the legendary plaid chocobo yet.

Aerospace engineer. I have 3/4 of a degree in that, though I eventually switched to security and Intel studies and got my degree in that instead. Still would like to go back and finish the other someday, though now I work in an IT shop so it wouldn't really help anything.

I dunno why Vlorsutes hates Galkas. maybe he tripped over one?

If you had one day to do whatever you wanted with no consequences at all, let's just say it's erased from history, what would you do?

Let's also assume traveling anywhere in the world is done by teleporting and would not require any time.

Ok, no. I've seen two of these things now. And the second one I flipped over after I squished it. They don't have legs. They all pull them selves along the same way.

The one I found on the floor looked like a small smudge of dirt, until I noticed it was moving. The one on the wall looked like it had white speckles all over it's back. So I am convinced that whatever is on it's back is made up of whatever it eats.

Seriously, Kao. I need some answers here.

I live in Hawaii. We have lots of weird bugs here. Smiley: frown

ETA: I google imaged mud snails. These do not have shells. The back part is soft, and squishy.

Nope, when it gets so big it bogs the forum down, it will go away and turn in to "part 2" thread. Thus is the eventual fate of all large threads.

Has any other thread lasted for over three years?

There is a thread in the FFXI DRK forum that's been going since 12/25/2009. It's the third or fourth incarnation of that particular thread. Every now and again they get closed and replaced. Though the current thread has been going longer than any of the others.

There is also a second one that I don't really count, as it's just a ding thread, that's been going on since 08/12/2005.

No. Smiley: glare But when I see another one, I'll take a pic. It didn't occur to me to try and find out what the hell it was until after I had flushed the evidence.

There was one of those types of thread in the Warrior forum for FFXI. Iirc, it started before the DRK Club thread. There was more activity in your one, though. So Milich, lolgaxe and I upped sticks. Smiley: grin

Let's also assume traveling anywhere in the world is done by teleporting and would not require any time.

Lets see, first i'd find a nice cave somewhere really remote and teleportable and set up a power infrastructure. teleport in a large generator, fuel, food, solar, etc. Then i'd teleport in a U.S. mint printing press, one of the $20, $10 and $5 plates (the larger denominations attract more attention) and the requisite paper, ink, etc. Also some startup legitimate money from various major bank vaults, etc. Once I had my large pile of neverending cash, I'd set up legitimate bank accounts around the world with large amounts of electronic funds, including a largeish one in russia. I'd then buy an island (20-50 miles in diameter) with water, suitable location for an airstrip, a harbor area and potable water. I'd then use the russian account to buy 2 decomissioned russian nuclear missile submarines (complete with a few missiles), 2 nuclear attack submarines, a huge pile of small arms, anti aircraft weapons, a few Migs, some helicopters, maybe some surface warships. along with as much power, sewer, water and data infrastructure as I could purchase. I'd also buy several large vertical CNC mill and lathe installations suitible for constructing large warships, aircraft, and tanks. I'd then bring in people to turn the island into an impregnable fortress backed by a nuclear deterrent, start building a massive navy and start my war of conquest to rule the world. It would take more than a day, but if I had unlimited funds I could at least sign all the contracts to pay for it and get it started in one day.

It might be a slug of some sort. Here are pictures of common slugs of hawaii. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/2e/Slugs_1896.jpg and a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lw2wwjxmWY4 They eat plants so they are pests. try pouring salt on it and see if it shrivles up and dies. if it doesn't, its not a slug or a snail.

Not a slug. And I have no idea why I watched that video as long as I did....

And I have to stop Googling to figure it out. I'll want to move away from this bug infested island if I keep searching for Hawaiian bugs...

No, that thing's too three dimensional. This thing was flat.

I found that website last night. I started feeling like things were crawling on me, so I called off the search.
