I thought the forum that the op directed me too was an FFXI thing?

I know Joph works for free magazines. How about modding for Zoo Tycoon - you must have pulled down a nice chunk of change for that gig.

I'd get fired from admin'ing here so fast, they'd be able to pay me my pro-rated portion of the paycheck in bottle caps.

Not currently. The server is still more or less in its infancy. Right now we're still sort of beta-testing with a small handful of players coming and going. We started in July, and typically make just enough money for the server to pay itself. Recently we have seen a strong surge in payments by players equaling $140 over a period of two days, which we will be investing into advertising once Bukkit releases a stable build for Minecraft version 1.4. After about two or three years of growth and development, we can expect to generate anywhere between $20k-40k a year depending on how popular Minecraft remains. Then we will be able to pay long-time or exceptional admins.

Some do like on this site. Most for the majority do not get paid anything. I have been given gifts and discounts on purchases from
one site. The gifts from that forum were t- shirts and a 10% discount on purchases. The other forum I still mod is better. Having
been with them for over 10 years now. I have gotten some small gift certificates that I've never used. A nice jacket that has the
Forums name and Moderator on it. I also did a product install with Pictures demo for them once and got the stuff for half price.

For my GMing a virtual world thing, my GM account and one regular account were all free of charge, provided I logged in 6 hours of work a week on the GM account. It was $20 a month otherwise, so I got paid less than a dollar an hour.

Apparently some desperate little boy from Minecraft bruteforced my(or another admin's) forum account some time last night. I log in and all my news posts and forum threads are wiped out, and the title of the page is now "YOU GOT HACKED ************* hurrrr hurrr" etc.

Now to see if I can roll back the forum's data. Fun times...

If brute force isn't working for you you're not using enough.

It really isn't. It's what people who want to belittle the person who hacked them label the hack in order to make it feel less like they got hacked because of any of a number of vastly more likely means.

Such as for example sending certain unscrupulous admins say, oh, $1,000 for access to the above account. Unmarked bills only please.
