Chick Fil A has donated money to the Family Research Council. Link

The Family Research Council spent 25K lobbying the US government not to denounce CIVH Res. 1064, a bill in the nation of Uganda which would instate the death penalty for homosexuality. Link.

It's not about "7 degrees", like you posted earlier. If you donate money to an organisation, as CFA does here, how does that presuppose they do not support their stances on things like this?

Also, as you fallaciously tried to pin down, it's not about stopping aid relief to Uganda either.

Do you or do you not support OPEC in any way, shape or form? If not, please explain how you are not.

Do you or do you not support Uganda?

This is exactly "7 degrees" because you're attacking a business who supports an organization which is lobbying the US to support a law from an organization from another country.

As I said, if the "Family Council" did nothing but go around and kill gays themselves, then you might have a point; however, this isn't the Family Council's doing, it's Uganda. The Family Council supports a practice CHOSEN by the people of the nation, just like the countries from OPEC. You know, the people you support. So, it's childish to boycott them based on some indirect connection if you're doing the same thing with other organizations.

Don't get me wrong. I understand what you're doing and why. I somewhat did the same thing with Calvin Klein, but I realize that at the end, my actions will change nothing, I will lose out on something that I might particularly like and I still will somehow support the same type of thinking by supporting someone else without my knowledge. As long as you realize those things, then you're fine. If you deny those things, then you're just delusional.

You can spend your whole life playing the "What's the use of feeding one guy if you can't feed every person in the world?" game or you can pick your battles and try to make whatever small impact you can to make the world a better place. You can give a billion dollars to OPEC or whoever and ten dollars to CFA and cutting out that $10 is still ten bucks less potentially going to causes you find abhorrent. You're welcome to think that it's not worth it and you'd rather give that extra ten bucks than stop eating chicken sandwiches or wearing jeans that you like but feeling that is is worth it is hardly delusional, rationalizations of "It wasn't going to make that big a difference anyway" not withstanding.

You think you can take off days/weeks from posting and then come in here and demand attention like this?

That's...that's just crass, man.

I know the speech and I remember the voice but no matter how often I read it it's always in Artie's voice.

#142Almalieque, Posted: Aug 06 2012 at 2:36 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) There's a huge difference in not feeding someone because you can't end world hunger vs not buying something because you wont change a CEO's opinion. The first one deals with life and death of a person, the latter deals with you potentially pausing the income flow of a multimillionaire that can just as easily put his/her efforts into another similar project.

You so incredibly missed my point that it's probably safer to just say that we have wildly different values in this regard and leave it at that.

It's so amazingly pathetic the way Alma takes a post, quotes it, then repeats the post almost verbatim with only a few words changed.

It hurts.

Yes, yes we know. No one here can see your genius. Everyone you know who conveniently isn't here at least believes you have intelligent reasoning even if they disagree with your conclusion.

Nope not at all. People openly admit to not reading my posts before responding to what they THINK I'm referring to. When they do that, 9 times out of 10, they are responding to an old played out argument that I'm not making. Once they actually read what I write, it's the same response "You should have said that before" or "It was too confusing", which is contradictory if you're admitting that I change very few words.

That isn't the case with Jophiel though. He simply addressed an issue that wasn't my point at no fault of any of us. Maybe I misunderstood his point, maybe he misunderstood my point or the combination of the two. In any case, we don't agree hence the reason why he said what he said.
