It's a type of plastic, can't recall what it's called though. Try ripping one though, it's impossible. It's like canvas, can't tear it unless you cut it first.

I like the new plastic, semi-transparent bills. They make life a lot easier because they don't take the kind of damage paper bills do. I do hate that they're eliminating the penny though. I understand that they cost more to make than they're worth, but then the solution would be to find something cheaper. I'm already noticing prices going up on some things so that they come out to an even amount after taxes...

Ugh, Euros are too far deviated from normal paper for my tastes already. They don't even really smell like money!

On a side note, I am actually now in Dubai and going to spend all that money as soon as shops open.

Turns out someone stole 150 Dirhams from me at London Heathrow (only time I let it out of my sight, and part of the money missing was kinda weird).

And stuff is not expensive in Dubai. The whole point of going shopping there is that it's all much cheaper than in Europe. Smiley: lol

Just like a paper bill, just far more durable. I don't carry cash much anymore and simply use debit, so not sure what a stack of 10 would be like though.

It appears to be more along the lines of polyester fabric than lamination type plastic. Maybe a little stiffer than a polyester fabric.

The reason for different sized bills in Oz is so blind people can handle money without getting ripped off. Mazra, I find the old and new bills there very interesting. The old ones look like they were Art Deco from the 30's, or Socialist Realism styles from a similar period. They seem to have modern national infrastructure achievements on one side, and ancient national artistic/technological achievements on the reverse. Also, the kronar coin is extremely pretty.

Yeah, they went with a "Bridges of Denmark" theme for the new bills, because we're an island nation, or something, and bridges is what we do. Then they put some stuff from back when we had boats on the other side of the bills, because we all love us some Viking Age here.

I prefer the old ones. They had more personality, if you can call it that. The new ones seem so bland, and I feel like they expect me to know the motives on them. I only recognize the stuff on the 1000-kroner bill. Storebæltsbroen and Solvognen.

About the old bills, I can add that the people on the front of the bills are famous artists/scientists from Denmark. I recognize Karen Blixen, Niels Bohr and the painters Anna and Michael Ancher from the Skagen Painters group. The figures on the back of the old bills were inspired by the Romanesque stone work in several of the churches around the country.

Pakistani money just has Muhammad Ali Jinnah's face on one side and random landmarks/sights of Pakistan on the other; of the notes I have I only know the ones on 20 Rs. (Khyber Pass) and 500 Rs. (Badshani Mosque Lahore).

Canadian bills have Braille on them for the same reason.

And the new 20 isn't nearly as nice as the old one. I haven't seen one in person but the picture just makes it look fake and more like "Monopoly money".

Last I was in Turkey, I paid 32 million Turkish lira for a cheeseburger and a Coke.

I heard they cut some zeroes back in 2005, though.

I wonder if they'll name it the same again...

Also, more money. I've got Rs. 21,072 as of right now. I get really confused because the US Dollar is the only major Western currency (of the three) that has a worse than 1:100 exchange rate. I did have Rs. 5,000 notes, too, but I spent them already...

Also, I bought a bread for Rs.5 today, from my cook it's more than 20 times that (which is exactly why I don't take breakfast at home anymore). Smiley: inlove
