If that's the issue, she needs to stop making it about those other women and start making it about the ex-boyfriend. People cheat because they're ******** and/or because they can't communicate their needs. It had nothing to do with her, she needs to stop being so insecure.

Seriously. My cousin is having this problem and it tears me up. She's such a sweet, smart, pretty chick, but just about every by she's been with has royally screwed her over and I can tell its hit her self esteem really hard.

Okay, that's fair. I forgot that I went through a period of a couple years where my self worth was valued on what guys thought of me. That's rough. The only thing I can suggest is to help her get involved in things that interest her and see if that helps. I really wish society didn't make us think that our value is centered on what kind of guy we can get our hands on. Self evaluation helps too. Trying to figure out what all those guys had in common, and try and avoid those types of guys in the future.

Well, she lives in Michigan and I live in Hawaii. Not much I can do to help her unfortunately. Except keep reminding her that she's ******* awesome and she doesn't need that trash in her life to begin with.

I'm glad to hear your ability to sympathise depends wholly on having experienced exactly the same thing yourself.

Happy birthday! Not safe for work or small children, by the way.

Congrats, Tofu!! Any names picked out yet?

Also, I love how every thread is secretly about Kalivha...

Sorry I've been away

Um Names....

We have talked about it a little. Husband man hates every name I like so the other day I asked him if there were any names out there he did like and he came up with Amelia. I hated it at first but the more I play around with it I'm actually starting to like it alot. I think we could call her Mia for short.

As for boys, I'm finding this much harder to find things we like but will probably go with a family name.

Congo-rats! FYI: the closer to Christmas you deliver, the more your child will resent you. As most people are cheap and will either combine birthday and Christmas items, or skip out one or the other. And usually Jesus's birthday wins over yours.

Take it from a December 19th baby Smiley: bah
My brother's bday is December 19th and mine's Jan 5th. My parents always went out of their way to make our birthdays special. Most of my family, as a result, treated Christmas and birthdays as completely separate and very distinct things. You just had sh*tty parents.

Husband and I have already discussed this and we will not let this happen. Our child will have a Birthday and a Christmas Day. I won't be having any of that "This is your birthday and your Christmas Present" *********

I love that name, but I might be biased since that's what my mage's name was for a good three years or so. Smiley: grin

My brother's birthday is the day before Christmas day; I just don't usually have the cash (or luggage allowance) to get an extra present in December... Smiley: frown

My birthday is December 2 and my family never pulled any of that combo present BS on me. Although I did use it to my advantage once when I wanted something that was more expensive than my parents would usually spring for for my birthday. I told them to give it to me and it would be my birthday and Christmas present.

Of course when Christmas came around, I still got some nice gifts from them. Score!

If the present is a multi-hundred dollar game system combo(complete with a game or two), your kid may not care if you occasionally combine the gifts. Just let them open it on the earlier one.

Separating the days becomes less of an issue as the children get older as typically, their "wants" go up in price and they're happy to combine things if it means they actually get what they really wanted. At a young age, making birthdays special is where it counts.

If it's a boy, name him Adam.

That name is too common. Then again, I grew up having one or two other Kristins (with spelling variations) in my class, so I am bound and determined to give my kids uncommon names. Just my Smiley: twocents

He or she is probably going to get teased at school anyways... I got teased and my boyfriend both got teased, so it's just going to be in their genes. Besides, I didn't say I was going to give them a weird name, just an uncommon name. It's not like I'm going to name my kid Moon Unit or something. Actually, my favorite name for a boy is Brennan. Different, but still relatively normal sounding.

Thank you Belki, you said exactly what I was going to say... You don't even have to phrase it as jealousy but that you should be able to have friends and you want her to be a part of that too... But to be honest. even if her last bf cheated on her, kwoobie married her and is raising their child. You have to grow and accept those who love you.

Tofu, I think Amelia is a very pretty name. Smiley: smile

My friends have found that the middle name, and getting it to jive with the first name, has been more of a challenge.

That's something that bugs me too. I hate it when people's middle name doesn't flow with their first name. It also bugs me when people use generic middle names too. My best friend growing up, her name was Sarah Ann. I mean really, how boring is that? Would it kill people to get a little creative?
#75 May 26 2012 at 7:57 AM Rating: Good
I have three middle names (my three most recent female ancestors). Two of them are polytheistic, each in a different language and it just doesn't work. As soon as I'm able I'm just gonna get a full Hindustani/Arabic name. And then deal with the drama with my parents.

I think my whole name was actually born out of random drama.

Also, Amelia is very nice, yes. Just watch out that her initials don't spell out something silly, that's always a concern with vowels!

The closest a name gets to exciting is ridiculous.
