Avoid the ground beefish stuff and the refried beans and you're reasonably safe. Obviously, there's no much need where I live to ever go to a Taco Bell, but every once in a while they're like the only place open 24 hours within a decent distance, and their food is pretty cheap for the quantity you get.

That's as close to praise you'll ever hear from me for that place. McDonalds is just horrific. Every time I'm forced to go there (usually because I'm with a group, with kids, and the kids demand it), I end out doing the same thing: I scan the menu. And scan it some more. And then some more. Desperately hoping that something on it will even look appealing to me. I usually go with some form of chicken sandwich because that's the most likely to not be much worse than the same thing anywhere else. There's just something about McDonalds food. It's tailored way too much to kids tastes (which I find pretty disgusting). They've attempted over the years to put items out that are supposed to appeal to adults, but they pretty much always fail. I remember having hope for the Big and Tasty back in the day, but it ended out being neither. I also don't understand their insistence on avoiding putting any actual ingredients in any of their burgers. How freaking hard is it really to put actual lettuce and tomatoes and onions and maybe even pickle on a bun? Every burger there is meat between buns with some kind of sauce with some bits of condiments floating in it. Disgusting..

In some places they're called Hardee's.

Carl's Jr. and Hardee's are the same franchise? I did not know this.

Seriously me either. The things you learn on this website...

Oddly enough, we don't have either in the New Orleans area, but I DID know this.

I seriously watch too much Food Network.

CJ actually bought the franchise name over a decade actually, I was working at the one here when it happened even. They decided it would be more cost effective to keep the Hardee's name, rather than changing all the signs on every store. True story, I also mopped the tables one night because I was too lazy to get a towel.

I've found that the quality of a franchise varies quite a bit as you go from city to city. I think I've mentioned it before in these forums but locally the McDonald's is horrible, and BK is not too bad. But a few cities I've had to stay in for work, their BK was just plain nasty and their McD was not too bad.

I haven't been to either in almost a year though. The local Subway is better than the Quiznos I've tried the next town over, even though many people seem to love Quiznos and despise Subway. For toasted subs I prefer the local Mancinos. But they are very expensive. Occasionally they'll have special 50% off days, and then everyone in town goes there and they are packed (in store pickup only on those days, no delivery).

While I'm not going to sit hear and insist that McDonald's food isn't terrible, you are incorrect as to the content of their current menu.

If you'd just eat some chicken nuggets with some honey once in a while, you'd be a happier person. Smiley: tongue

Also, I usually get all those things you want for your burger removed from mine(I can't stand onions, the lettuce is always soggy and I only like pickles by themselves). The only thing you listed that I'd want on a burger is the tomato, and I don't like to over-complicate it for the workers. Hell, as it is, we consider it a victory if our order has the right number of sandwiches most places around here, so more complication is usually bad.

I never buy fast food burgers. Can't stand them, doesn't seem to matter which place it is, they just don't taste like a hamburger should. I do like fast food chicken most of the time, though I don't really like KFC that much.

I rarely have that issue. It probably largely depends on what you order. Oddly enough, the most recent time I had digestive issues there was when I was on the road and trying to eat healthy, so I got a fresca style chicken supreme burrito. That was a bad idea... I will probably stick to my volcano burrito with beans instead of beef, and the quesadillas (and occasionally a gordita/chalupa).

I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this though... when I lived in Eugene, I had no problem getting a volcano burrito with beans. Here in my hometown, they charge me 25 cents because apparently they aren't allowed to use the substitute button. I even complained to the manager, and that's what he told me. How idiotic is that? I get that fast food workers aren't generally expected to be intelligent, but what is so difficult about using a substitute button?

That McDonalds following a trend in "premium burgers" that other chains have been doing for years now. I haven't tried that one, but based on the deceptive pictures of their other burgers compared to what you actually get, I'm going to guess that it's just a bigger meat patty, with slightly more condiments inside, and the same icky taste that all the rest of their burgers have. Could be wrong. Could be the greatest thing ever! But I'm going to stick with the "make a bigger crappy burger and charge $7 for it" assumption.

When I do get fast food (and that's pretty rare anymore), I'll swing by In an Out and get a double double. It's by far the best burger for the price anywhere.

If beans don't get your digestive system overacting then you likely have an issue there in the first place.

Obviously a 1-post wonder, since his posting name is Joshnano and the channel the video was uploaded to is named arc1nano. He's here to promote his video/channel, nothing more. No idea why he chose this site, though.

As for the survey, I chose #3 because it's a true statement that deserves to be spread.

I have never seen that one. The law now basically states you have to have the lidon your cup and you cannot have the straw in the cup. If the straw is in the cup or the lid is off, you automatically get a DUI if pulled over.

However, there's nothing about whether you can surreptitiously remove the lid and take sips and then put it back on. And Louisianans wonder why we have the highest car insurance rates in the country.

When you live with the chance of getting "I think I might die" diarrhea every day then that threat isn't much of one. Although there is something oddly tasty about their tacos. Of course I kinda like McDonalds also. On a side note I enjoy durian candy, see image below.

That being said I've had Enchiladas and Fajitas before. Maybe Tacos didn't make the transition to this side of the pond. That or I'm looking in the wrong places? Smiley: grin
