So glad things are working out so great (with interesting learning parts) for you Belkie. My mother relies on tank water, which is also collected off her roof. As a final stage she has a cheap but effective water filter attached to her kitchen tap. You flick it on when you want drinking water, and flick it off for other tasks. I really love the sound of your island adventure in life, especially the beach, turtles and house geckos, and envy you greatly ^-^. I'm sure if the house geckos aren't getting enough food they'll move back outside for a while.

Things sound great for you too Niobia. I remember when Suki was born. They grow up so fast, into such amazing people, don't they? Don't worry about liking The IRS, according to the New Testament, Jesus hung with tax-collectors too!

We have one of those, but still don't trust the water. Unless you have a UV filter, there are a lot of water born issues that you can run into. I'm sure your mother has a UV filter, though. We aren't willing to pay for and install something like that since we don't own the home, and I'm not into improving someone else's real estate, especially when I plan to be moving out of here as soon as possible. The giant airborne roaches are hilarious.

We have those in GA... I still have nightmares...

Those came north into TN one year. I thought I was going to die.
Smiley: lol I'm picturing the reaction of your bible thumpers to it and can't stop laughing.

Yeah, laugh. I've probably still stood on higher ground than you have! 6500 meters and a bit, beat that!

I might hit up K2 in the summer. Smiley: sly

(Doubt I'm gonna climb that, though. I just heard the area is beautiful.)

7486 feet. I can't imagine what 6500 meters was like.

Kinda cold and rocky. No snow though as it was high summer and we were just below the everlasting snow.
It also didn't feel that special since the whole of Tibet is above 4000 meters. We were also just passing it so it's not like I've spent much time there. (Plus, just a road, no climbing or anything)

Nepal, as far as I've seen it, is gorgeous. Tibet is a strange world with very few trees or plants higher than grass and lots and lots and lots of rocks. Also rocks. And rocks. And did I mention rocks?

Edit: If you happen to get to Kathmandu, go to the monkey temple. It's awesome. Also any other Buddhist temple you can visit.

Not going to Nepal. If I can go see the second highest mountain in the world without an extra visa, why would I get one? Smiley: tongue

I'll probably be mostly hitting up some Sikh temples in Punjab. Kartarpur!

Sounds fantastic Kalivha! Have a greet time. I wonder if they have any of those fabulous temples with the gold plated domes? But you've gotta love nature in all her terrible glory! Really wish I could come with.

They grow up to fast =( Suki has turned into such a sweet, compassionate earth child. She loves plants and animals, helps people out willingly, says please & thank you; shes a much better person at 3 than I will ever be at 34 or older.

Also, I think OOT get together needs to be scheduled at Belkies.

Dear Belkira,
Be sure to get some good wet weather gear. I would suggest a good, strong umbrella and
a parka at the least. It will rain, and it will rain a lot for a good month straight and you will
hate life without it. You will also wish to build an ark. Resist this urge. People will look at you
funny when you go to the zoo and demand two of every animal.
                                              Sincerely,
                                               lolgaxe

Oh wow I have been so out of the loop around here. I had no idea you moved away. Glad to hear things are going well for you.

I'm currently in Japan right now. I'm out of the Navy now and am doing disaster relief work in the Tohoku area. I'm now making plans to study in Tokyo.

Taking advantage of all the displaced Japanese girls. No surprise there.

No, seriously, tell us how Japan is doing one year later.

Soggy, how do you fund doing relief work? I'd love to do that next year, but most of our projects are really costly to participate in and it might just be cheaper to go to Canada or something.

We don't really need relief work, but thanks for thinking of us.

Elaborate more! If things work out the way I want them to then after another year of school I'm going to try to get into the JET program or another English teaching program in japan. I'd end up spending a year in japan if I got in.

Wow, sounds like a hell of a step! Hawaii does sound awesome. I've been hearing a lot about it of recent.

I'm sort of glad to be in Canada and avoid the large number of odd insects. The only huge ugly pests we have here are policitians and Leaf fans. They're working on repellant for both, and while I'm sure Raid for Leaf Fans might work out, you can never completely get rid of politicians.

Hope you enjoy it there. As for me, wife's decided to leave the marriage. Aside from that, nothing major in the way of news.
