In my never-ending quest to find the perfectly palatable bowl of oatmeal, I've learned that once your oat grain is rolled out, it starts losing it's flavor, texture, and nutrition.

So, I might have to get an oat-roller and smoosh my groats myself.

Anyone roll their own oats?

I believe in grinding fresh coffee, I'm not sure I like oatmeal enough to roll fresh oats. Plus it sounds like a lot more work.

Just add some flax seend to your pre-made oats. Nutrition added back. Sweeten it with brown sugar. Flavour added back. Cook it. No need for texture anymore.

You're welcome.

Just buy steel cut oats instead. Rolled oats make terrible oatmeal.

They look tasty. But sound like they may be some pretty bland army food...

The pictures kind of remind me of the no bake cookies.

Speaking of no bakes, I haven't had them in quite some time.

Anzac biscuits are distinguished by their golden syrup content, which not only makes them sweet and flavourful, but also, if it's a good recipe, chewy, almost slightly gooey. One can suck the sweetness out of them as you eat.

You, sir, deserve a thousand rateups for this. Chocolate chips are vastly superior in an oatmeal cookie.

You don't even taste the spinach in the smoothie. Seriously. I always throw in a handful of baby spinach in any smoothie I make at home. Awesome. But don't do this in a milkshake.

Steel cut oats are ok for making cereal at home. Ive had only limited success at work with the microwave.

Rolled oats are used for lots of other stuff though.

What she said. The fruits and whatnot in the smoothie completely mask the flavor of the spinach, as long as it's raw. And it makes for a nice vitamin boost for the beverage.

Just for clarity, I like raisins just fine. I just don't want them in my baked goods.Smiley: frown

Somehow, putting them into yummy oatmeal cookies seems to me a particularily heinous crime.

I loves me some porridge. I usually sweeten with honey, though. Quaker Oats make some pretty tasty porridge.
