Excellent news.

This could have probably been a PM, but f*ck me if this isn't cool. Especially the last part, about this being non-discriminating. They can apply it to other nerve functions! SCIENCE!

Except if it were baby photos, it would be like looking at before and afters of Michael Jackson. Only instead of turning into a white guy, he changes into a chick!

Likewise. I've been meaning to get some sleep for the past two hours, but I just keep watching one video after another.

I've managed to tear myself away now, ta-ta.

I've watched some TV documentary's on blindness over the years and they had a test subject that they were actually getting him to see images. It was pretty cool back then. You can only assume that as technology advances so would the idea and soon it will be reality for us.

One of my roommates did that the other day. Getting that Roku with its many awesome channels has been a wise investment, though the TED channel has not allowed for much sleep. Smiley: laugh

Completely not fair, poor Geordie had to wear a VISOR until First Contact and in reality Bijou will have his ocular implants a few weeks before he dies of old age?

I wouldn't worry about that, science already that covered as well.

You should see about doing that. I'm not sure if the studies would be double blind, though. Probably not considering what they're trying to achieve. I doubt you would write that sort of thing off as "placebo effect".

edit: Hahaha, sorry that was totally an accident. Kao will be jealous of that one. Smiley: laugh

Hey, if, as a test subject the procedure was free and I had to sign a "no fault" waiver I'd still do it.

Even the "currently available tech" crappy one installed as a base line to compare with the new one would be an improvement.
