Before you ask that, be advised that 2.00 would not be an improvement...

1) Is the "Ask an Admin day 2011 Thread" for Sage level posters and above only?
(if yes, disregard remaining questions)

2) As an admin, what topics, other than Karma, do you personally consider taboo?

3) What DID happen to the "earth shattering kaboom?"

Also, I am also curious if admins ever boost ratings for exceptionally informative posts like the rate-bombs dropped on blatant trolls or abusers.

Last question, make out with Chris Farley for 30 minutes or attempt to have a meaningful conversation with Snooki from Jersey Shore for a night?

Sure, post 10,000 times, Yes, we do on occasion. Usually we try not to make a huge deal out of it though, and Snooki, because I posess duct tape!

Posting 10,000 times would defeat the point of lurking, sir! Also, no duct tape. Full on, hardcore, hot, steamy, stimulating attempted intellectual conversation

Thanks for the answers. :P

Does anyone else enjoy giving Vlor crap the way I do? Not asking names, just wondering if I'm all alone in picking on Vlor. For that matter, do you guys get annoyed at me poking at him, or do you not really care?

OK! Kaolian I love Zam! But I am a Hardcore lurker. I just never been that huge on posting :( But I am here every day on reading! So here are my questions/ rant in no pitcular order:

1. Is there a chain of command? and what is it?

2. A Lot of forums have this you "agree with us or we rate you down" mentality any chance of breaking that? (IE: Karma isn't working all that great)

3. I know how how us Forum posters are policed but how are admins?
I am asking this because one of the forums I lurk has an admin the well, only way I can describe him is as a condensing ****. If you don't agree with him your wrong, ect. Worse off I feel he is driving players away from the game. I can't rant him down but...

4. MY BIGGEST QUESTION: Will you guys ever adjust the Karma system?
It seems to force peeps into your way or highway around here about thinking. I will admit I haven't posted as much because I worried about karma. It dosen't seem like it matters if I'm on the SWTOR, FFXVI,FFXI, or wow forum.

Even this post I'm wondering if I'll get rated down /cry /wrists that I think is Zam's legacy.

1. Nope, anyone can play!
2. Questions I have vetoed in the past include what I make per month in salary, certain direct questions about certain corporate ownership arrangements of certain websites that are probably now public knowledge but were not at the time, or things like "what is the full name and address and social security number of Admin _____"
3. If you are talking about the death ray on mars, there was a deflection in the starboard primary interferometric pulse magnetohelicoiloidal generator, which caused a brief short in the tertiary beam doubler just before the main magnetic compression pulse fired, causing a misfire in the deuteriam matrix wafer. If you are talking about a certain former WoW admin, basically there were issues between that individual and elements of management, and when budget cuts occured, they no longer worked here.

someproteinguy wrote:

It really varies. Cultures are different in each forum section. Things that are the norm in the FFXI forums wouldn't go over well in WoW main. All other forums annoy the asylumites sometime. Really its whichever one happens to have the larger population at the moment.

Telaki wrote:

People kept bugging Illia about their score, and complaining if that score fluctuated even on a microscopic level, making ratebots on a regular basis, karma camping people left and right. It detracted from the forum at the time. On the other hand, it also gave people an excuse to come back and check on their karma and thus interact more with the forum. I'd personally advocate bringing the numbers back, but I doubt it will happen any time soon. The reason asking about the karma numbers remains forbiddon is because i'd be here answering just that question forever. literally forever.

Vlor has his share of people he has diverse interactions with on the FFXI forums. I get annoyed when people go too far in picking on any of my admins, but within reason we allow it. Thats the main reason I don't ban anyone who posts a spider.

1. Yes, there is a chain of command. It starts with Draknorr, MicahAJ and Darqflame. Darqflame is my direct boss, after that, in terms of forum matters specifically, I am the lead forum administrator. Where it gets complicated is the crossover between forums and content managers. In terms of forum content, I "outrank" a content manager. In terms of Game content in the game databases themselves, we are either tied or they outrank me, which is as it should be. In the event of a forum dispute, if its about me, contact Darqflame, If its about anyone else, contact either Darqflame or myself.

2. We have adjusted the karma system recently with the new forum revamp to curb those tendancies and introduce a slight positive bias when posting. Its now much more difficult for a newbie poster to get obliterated or set inadvertantly to guru. We also changed things so spammers or people who are being rated down heavily on a consecutive basis will actually drop off faster than they were before. Are there areas that could be adjusted more still? sure. but I think it is working pretty well now actually.

3. By me. Please see the process in the forum rules at: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/wiki/Forum_Rules#XV._Administrator_decision_appeals_process
I'd rather handle that via PM or e-mail or a seperate thread than this one, and keep in mind I'll be reviewing all facets of the issue, but please feel free to send me a PM or something with your grievances, with specific examples, links to anything you considered objectionable, along with any extenuating circumstances, etc. I can't promise you an outcome that will be necessarily favorable to you, but I can promise that I will review the situation and deal with it one way or the other.

4. We did recently already, and we also will review "karma camping" if you feel you are being unfairly targeted.

I've never recieved any solicitations for that. I did have someone ask me for the Magi pic once, which prompted a "why the **** would you think I would even have that" conversation with that individual. I think they got banned later.

Ironically, I could actually probably apply for that position, I just have my other full time job, so I'm not going to. I dunno, the basics? probably a few hours. to mastery? depends on how quick you learn and any prior programming experiance, etc.

Being im majoring in SAP(Software App Programming) with c++ & java, just finished up classes for c++, and with Java... a lot of the concepts are there from c++.... just the different syntax/grammar. As with any programming you need to think outside the box at times. There's always more than 1 route to any solution.

A piece of engine trim from a different airplane fell off on the runway, hit the concorde tire, which exploded and took out the Concorde engines, and killed about a hundred influential people with relitives that held a grudge. So they sued it out of existance essentially.

Any memorable bans that you enjoy thinking about? Like, remembering that you were the one that got to hit the banstick makes you smile/giggle? If so, any in particular you'd care to share (I assume not, but it can't hurt to ask)?

Is Darkflame still around?

I wanna know how Nobby was in the sac.

If that doesn't fly my question is:

Who was the last person who rated me down?

Bonus question:

Who was the last person to rate me up?

Most of the really memorable ones aren't enjoyable memories. Usually by the time it gets to that point its more a sense of resignation. Sure, killing spammers and scammers and godraidens is enjoyable, and the examples I posted above. Banning skeet was pretty satisfying too I suppose.
