After a year and two months of being jobless I finally landed a gig doing tech support for a nice little company called NACR. They basically build, monitor and repair Networks for small to large businesses. Its contract to hire so I need to bust my *** to make it a permanent thing.

I want to thank my previous employer for not seeing my potential, laying me off, giving me an all expense paid vacation and opportunity to go to school and learn a new trade. Oh and I'll be making 25% more an hour than my previous job and if I go salary, $18,000 more a year.

I am pretty goddamn excited, time for a beer.

neat! hopefully most of the people you work with on network tech support lines will have at least slightly more clue than the average phone tech person.

The position(s) were open because they are overhauling the department/moving folks around to more useful positions. The VP said he wants more tech oriented folks doing tech support rather then people who can just answer a phone.

I guess that means i r smrt.

Welcome to hell the club!

My advice to you: document everything. Hopefully you've already got a good ticketing system in place (not sure how anyone can survive without one these days) but no matter what software you use, take full advantage of it. We use ConnectWise and I've finally gotten everyone else in the habit of writing down configurations in the configs tab, appending screenshots in the documents tabs, and writing down the resolution in addition to the problem. So easy, and saves everyone a ton of headache later on down the road when someone else runs into the exact same problem.

Went to the Flying Saucer's BearFeast yesterday and they had that in the "rare juice" tent. It was a second tapping, though, so some people were getting impatient for it. Smiley: lol It was pretty good.

I had a sweet potato ale that I loved.

The only cheap light beer I can stand is Corona Light, and that still requires copious fresh limes.

Never be afraid to try adding some lime to good beers, too. Sometimes it can be almost orgasmic.

Not really. It's more exasperated. Because I can't believe people do it, but they actually freaking do.
