The best thing about OctoberFollow

...is the MLB post-season. The best thing about THIS October... that none of the east coast teams will be heading to the world series. Chris Carpenter just pitched one of the best playoff games in baseball history to send the Phillies home with their tails between their legs. Brewers / Cards in the NLCS, Detroit / Texas in the ALCS. I'm thinking Cardinals / Rangers in the series, Cardinals on top 4-2 to take the crown.

What say you?

Nothing gives me more satisfaction than the Yankees loosing out! Shows that all the money in the world does
not make a great team.

I'm not a big Yankees fan but I wished they would have knocked off Detroit. The last thing we need is Detroit fans getting more cocky than they already are. I hope the Rangers put the hurt on them. As far as the NL. I think the Brewers won a lot of the regular season games against the Cards. I think the Brewers will win the NL. As for the World Series, not a clue who would win.

Brewers are set up better than the Cards for this series, with respect to starting pitching. Brewers in 6.

I agree about Detroit, but I'll take them over the Yankees. Plus, that means I get to watch Verlander pitch more games.

So were the Phillies. The Brewers have been awesome at home, but I think if the Cards can take 1 of the first 2, we can win the rest at home in games 3/4/5.

I seriously doubt they pull off three games in a row, even at home, against Milwaukee.

The playoffs are a crapshoot. That said, the Brewers, Rangers, and Tigers are all better than the Cardinals.

I say see you in Milwaukee. Carpenter was a beast last night, but I think the Brewer's are going to take it. Would like to see a Milwaukee/Detroit series. Also, rematch 1982.

I think this sentiment is hilarious. Milwaukee last night played in the most exciting game I've ever seen. The atmosphere at Miller Part is electric. I'm ridiculously happy that NY, Boston, and Philly are out. Their fans tend to be the biggest douchebags around too. You welcome to stop watching until your overpaid, sh*tty when it counts players start again next year. The rest of us are looking forward to some of the most exciting baseball we've seen to date in October.

My Red Sox sucked this year and I called it from the beginning of the season. Just good enough to tease us. I consider scrub teams to be anything other than the teams with the best records from each league. I feel the same way in any sport. Even with my Bruins winning last year, had it been a mediocre team against them, I'd have been less thrilled with them winning.

I know you want to see this as a Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies thing, but I'd feel the same way had Milwaukee been the team with the best record and knocked out in the first round. It has nothing to do with whether my team is in it or not. With the Red Sox out, I was interested in watching Philly, and I don't like them. I think baseball should go back to 2 divisions in each league, because now crappy teams make it in. And as a Red Sox fan, that probably means we almost never make the playoffs.

So how bout them brewers, eh? Teams that go up 2-1 in a best of 7 series historically go on to win the series 70% of the time. And we still have the next 2 games in St. Louis. Milkwaukee has to be feeling the pressure now...

I didn't expect marathons from the starters with the way the Brewers hit. Honestly, I'm rather surprised we're still 2-2 after the performances we've seen, though. It sure would be nice for Garcia to pitch 7-9 innings of 0-1 run ball tonight.

What scares me most is the inconsistency of the STL offense. Some days we go out there and slug away, and then some days (like last night), we look absolutely placid.

I think STL needs a win tonight. It would allow them to save Carpenter for a potential Game 7 on full rest, rather than pitching him in Game 6 on short rest.

My comment about saving Carpenter was intended to imply that the Cards will win game 6 with Jackson getting the start, so Carp's next regularly scheduled start would be game 1 of the WS. What makes you so dense this morning?

You should be starting Carpenter in game 6. Get this over with. What the @#%^ happened to 3 man rotations? Why not put your best pitcher in there when it counts instead of using scrubs.

Last time Jackson pitched, we won 12-3. Why waste Carpenter when he can always come back for game 7 if necessary, but we could potentially save him for a game 1/5 setup in the WS if we win tomorrow? It's smart baseball, something you have trouble with, apparently.

1/5? Is Carpenter a @#%^? 1/4/7. Of course, if you pitched him in game 6, you could get 2/5 and if any game gets rained out, toss in another game.
