#1 Sep 16 2011 at 7:43 PM Rating: Decent
I think it really be awesome to make a sound effect from a game I play into a ring tone and I was wondering if it's at all possible.

I know there's an app on Android that you can use to turn an mp3 to a ring tone. I know you can use a program to download youtube videos and turn those into mp3s.

If you have an Android, download Ringdroid or some other similar app. If you can find the base audio, you can edit it down on your phone to what you need. If you just find the sound effect, which is likely nowadays, just move it onto your phone and set.

I used ringdroid to cut the track from 41 seconds to the end and am using as my ringtone now (although my phone is nearly always on vibrate).

Except that this one is better, and 95% of dubstep is garbage imo.

Do you have the sound effect audio file? Or an mp3?

Why would you purposefully not own a smart phone?

I gave my mother my old iphone and she had a nervous breakdown. She spends most of the time with it turned off. To be fair, there are some pretty stressful life events going on this year.

Anyway, she recently discovered texting and fell in love.

She now sends people Asci art texts, like two birds saying hello to each other, or a papillion dog, like the dog my sister owns.

I held out as long as possible because I didn't want to have access to my e-mail 24hrs.

I avoid it because I know myself well enough to know that I'd go app crazy.

Well, that and I'd probably break the damn thing inside of a week.

No, you do have a point.

Yeah I don't own one due to the added expense for a "data plan" and the general cost for just the phone.

1. Otter Box.
2. Screen guard.
3. Throw it off roof.
4. ???
5. Continue playing with phone.
6. Profit.

I would get rid of other services like cable before I worried about the expense of a data plan. Google in your pocket is pretty much the best thing ever.

I think all you need is an mp3 and a way to send it to your phone. It took me a while to figure out how to email it to my phone, but once I did, I had a bunch of Final Fantasy ringtones on my phone including the female tarutaru creation music for XI and the battle music for FF6. I even set my mom's ringtone as the Shadow Lord music for XI. Smiley: lol

The problem with this plan is that OTTERBOXES ARE ABSOLUTELY @#%^ING HIDEOUS

Ironically, the iPhone is the phone I've kept the longest without destroying it. All of my other phones have either ended up lost or in several pieces.

But if your phone has a microUSB cable, like a lot of them do, you can probably just transfer the data over that. I usually used bluetooth to transfer mp3s to use as ringtones, but I don't know how many computers actually have bluetooth themselves.

You think so?? Some of the bigger waterproof ones are a bit ridiculous I'll admit. Mine is just a rubber coat with a thin plastic case that clamps onto the sides, but not the top or bottom. Barely adds any bulk to the phone.

I thought that the Otterboxes were those giant waterproof ones.

There's also the commuter ones, but I still think the hole exposing the Apple logo is hideous. I just chose a Speck Candyshell, since on Amazon they're pretty deeply discounted. (Like, $30 vs $8 discounted.)
