Has any one heard of this? from what i read from there website it's like worldwide treasure hunt and my step brother wants me to do it with him. He sounded so sure on the phone that i would like it i could not say no,and i have not seen him in a while so i told him yes but honestly it seems kinda boring. I guess the point is to use a gps device to find item of some sort that's hidden in a certain area. i got feeling i'm gonna be bored out of my mind for the next 4 hours i'll post how it went when i get back.

I have a friend who does it. Sometimes there's not even an item; the GPS coordinates just lead you to a place someone found beautiful. Depending on where you live, I guess that could be pretty fun. If you like hiking and sh*t.

I tried this once. Went to a spot and found a shiny penny. Heads up too!

Yeah, if you like hiking and exploring the outdoors geocaching is a lot of fun. Otherwise, good luck.

My ex used to do it for a bit.

Geo Hashing is kind of cooler for the extra geekiness, though. And because it's Randall Munroe who made it, although that probably falls in the "geekiness" category.

I thought that would be when you go to a random GPS location, and smoke pot at it.

My sister and her husband do this all the time. Yes, it's basically hiking, but with a destination in mind that you can find, but don't know where exactly it is until you get there. There are sites with tons of locations listed and with rankings from easy to hard. The cache is usually a can or box hidden at the location with some random stuff in it. You're expected to put something in the box if you take something out. Their kids love it because it's like hunting for treasure.

If you're not into hiking at all, it might not be the thing for you though, but you never know.

So tried it kinda liked the real idea behind it. Exploring what other people thought was cool i might do it more but it's kinda boring in the city you have lived in your whole life. I might take a trip out of town and go caching somewhere i've never been before.

Oh wow, I wish I could still walk more than a block. I love the idea of both Geo Caching and Geo Hashing a lot! It's the sort of thing Kim Stanley Robinson (Red Mars trilogy) would adore too. Very much in the spirit of his books.

I don't think that reverance or respect for the dead needs the dead to be hidden from sight completely. It is the attitude that you bring, as a witness to a dead body, that matters, not the display and witnessing of a dead body, per se.

We tried it once and our GPS location put us in a Ruby Tuesday's parking lot. It doesn't always work.

My particular favorite real world quest is High Pointing. At the top of every high point in every US state is a brass marker. Some of them are easy, some of them require major mountain climbing skills (or a heliocoptor drop off.) Some have beautiful state parks (or even national or federal parks), some have the brass marker stuck unceremoniously into a cement block in someone's backyard (I'm looking at you, Mississippi.) Either way, it's a good way to ensure you visit every state, and you can collect badges and pins for achievements and eventually a leather bomber jacket once you hit 50 states.
