You are able to render an account unusable by you if you change the e-mail address to something impossible and then retrieve password. You cannot remove the content, and we don't generally ban accounts on request, because usually the people requesing that want it removed because they were being idiots and want to eliminate all evidence.

Good to know I just had to make a sock to get that screen shot I posted in the form for purchasing premium and wanted to delete it but I guess I will just forget about it instead.

You actually can't change your email without verifying it first. And even if you could, that wouldn't work anyway, since your password isn't changed until you actually get the email, and change it yourself. And even then, you'd also need to make sure you log out in every single computer/browser, as you can change your password without knowing it.

You'd have to make a new email, slamming your face into the keyboard to pick a password and security question, change your email to that, then log out of the email so you can't access it, then slam your face into the keyboard some more, to change your zam password, and log out.

How many people are on Alla? As in registered. Do you have stats on each forum as to how many hang around?

Somewhere on the order of 182,000 registered accounts +/-. The vast majority of those will never post in the forums. That doesn't include any accounts that were only in the 7 year ago UBB forums, and does include at least 4,000 spammer accounts. I have no hard numbers for the forums, but on average the FFXIV forum currently has the most active users, followed by FFXI, then Wow, the OOT, then Asylum. There is a large "floater" population that exists out in the various server forums and subforums at any given time. Also, the populations do cross over. Many of the FFXIV people also activly brows FFXI, so its not a strictly additive number.

On a very busy day these days there will be about 1,600 people browsing the forums as a whole at any one time. During peak several years ago, we would top 3k, peaking to 6K occasionally. Average prime time numbers are usually closer to 1,200 these days though. Several factors contributed to the decline, a huge one being work site filtering software, also the server issues, the merger, the DDOS, etc. our numbers are trending up, not down though which is a good thing.

Edit: those numbers also don't include any of the other network sites, like Wowhead which also has a very large forum.

Do the Admin and mods here have a Code to follow?
Like be nice and neutral and not take sides in things?

The forum I mod also has a "No holds Barred" forum. With the exception of trashing the mods and certain things like racism and such. The mods dont do much to it but watch. Getting involved with the discussions is never advisable and not a wise idea.

You'll ban Russia and China, but despite my repeated requests, not AOL? Smiley: tongue

Because you aren't as funny post admin as you used to be pre admin. You are too thoughtful, respectful and less cruel now.

About 18 seconds from now.

Wait a minute, are admins allowed to ask an admin?

Yes, it falls under the Escher Rule.

Angstycoder came vividly to my attention when he came on-board. He asked for suggestion/requests from the posters, and responded quickly to several of them.

DEAR ADMIN:

1. What is your favourite movie?
2. What is your favourite piece of music?
3. What is your favourite book/comic/anime?
4. What is your favourite TV show?
5. What is one of your best memories from general life?

Has there been attacks on the Alla site?

Yes, Many over the years. The most devistating of these was the 3 month long DDOS attacks we experianced back in 2007? 2008? somewhere in there. That particular attack origionated out of China, was persistant, and backed by a largeish botnet. Our existing router at the time was not capable of null routing invalid attacks. Ironically, the attack in question was aimed at Microsoft SQL server, and was completely ineffectuall against our MySQL based infrastructure, aside from bogging the hell out of the site. We lost alot of forum users over that.

I remember that. Ugh.
