I don't have precise specs or any pictures, but we have approximatly 24 servers. most of which are fairly beefy Xeons. The entire backend is gigabit, I don't believe we have a NAS at this time. Most everything is clustered, Apache for web, MySQL for data. Router is a newer Cisco. I'll have to dig up more of the specs.
A few of the older servers are macs. everyone hates them.

I'm going to bed now, and since this thread will be 25 pages deep by tomorrow I'm gonna have to read up. But i do have one more question before I go.
I know some of you have met in real life, be it fan festival or other official event gatherings. I know you guys also play the game just like the rest of us, and it's always fun to see you poking your heads into normal threads and adding game related content and opinions other than just admin stuff. So I'd ask what kind of things you discuss when you meet each other in person. Do you usually stick to just business and game related chit chat, or since you're human like the rest of us do you have any real world hot topic conversations that you like to talk about, be it other hobbies or whatnot.
And barring that
I'd ask what the heck you're talking about here, but on second thought... it probably wouldn't be in my best interest. I'd probably have a pack of rabid angry badgers mailed to my door to asplode in my face when I opened the box... or maybe something even worse

That particular button is mostly a legacy from comment system 1.0, the precurser to the forum as it stands now. under that, you could create sub topics under main topics, indented. It probably doesn't need to exist anymore, but it isnt really hurting anything.
Tell that to all the people who have accidentally started new topics instead of replying to old ones by mistake, only to have the new topic nuked to sub-default for it

This I can relate to when I moderated an anime forum a couple of years back.
I've often wanted to reach through my monitor and beat certain posters with a 2X4 about the head.

Tailmon just reminded me, what are the chances of adding an anime forum to the cross-game forums list? Or what would it take to convince the staff of the strong desire for such a forum? A hard to locate anime journal has nearly as many threads as the scifi forums and is far, far younger.
