What's a good music manager?Follow

So I've got tons of music in all different formats, some with artists names, and album names, and many without. I'm looking for a good music manager program to be able to organize them all, and display them in 'easy-on-the-eyes' interface. So far I haven't been able to find a program that does this well. I like the way that Itunes is layed out, but I hate the way their security ***** everything up. Any suggestions? What do you all use? Something that's freeware would be great.

Didn't Winamp recently spiff up on their manager extension? I usually use Winamp anyway, even back when it sucked, to label and brand all my music.

If you're not picky, you can do it in Windows Media Player pretty easily too. It'll even search your hard drive for all your songs.

Bookmarked.

But is there anything good that's available now? I'm in the process of tidying up my PC's.

It's available now. And if the history of the Mozilla project is any indication, it'll be quite stable, even in prerelease versions.

As for what's available now in stable release... I use napster. But that's because I use their subscription service, so I can just add any local songs on my computer to it's playlist and stuff.

I use Amarok but it's not quite available for Windows yet, you'd need Linux.

Everyone will probably laugh but I like WMP11. I rip everything into MP3 and stream it all using WMP's Windows Media Connect to the PS3 upstairs. The interface in 11 is better than anything they've put out previously.

I might have to look into this one. So far I don't really store any music on my linux PC, but that may have to change.

I think I'll give musicmatch jukebox a try for now.

I'd second the WMP11 from Wint if you have no other inclinations at this time. For simple music management, it's not bad, and it is much improved over previous versions. Just don't rip anything into their stupid *** .wma DRM format.

You don't have to store it on the linux PC just share your music folder and setup Samba so you can access it. You'll be able to get at all of your music from either PC.
