I simply don't care what people in the privacy of their own homes.

Note this is the same reason I'm for the legalization of prostitution and marijuana, proceed to flame away.

The law does, so it doesn't matter what you care about.

And if your 15 year old daughter told you she was dating a 40 year old man, I imagine it'd spark your interest.

Edit to add: I don't care about prostitution and marijuana. This has more to do with the well being of a child than anything else.

I'd judge the man based on his actions and accomplishments, not how old he his. (also the love thing, but that's pretty much a given)

Likewise I'd reject a 15 year old boy if he spends his time huffing paint.

Based on his actions, if a 40 year old man wants to date a 15 year old, then he is a sick twisted pervert.

So I'm glad to see we agree.

Why can't I Adblock posters? I don't care about avatars, I want Firefox to come up with a poster Adblock.

I've asked more than once for an "ignore user" feature, but I have been denied. Smiley: frown

For a free and open society, we seem to be big on judging and condemning people.

I prefer to work through life on an Ad-hoc basis, and not make assumptions about people.

Crazy, I know.

It's never going to happen through Alla, but Firefox can do anything. At least, according to singdall, it can.

I'm not making an assumption. I'm saying that if the only person a 40 year old can connect with on an intimate level is a 15 year old then they have issues they need to work out.

If you only listen to people who wholeheartedly agree with you, you fall into the dangerous trap of Groupthink.

Not sure what that has to do with anything, but thanks for the heads up...?

If I was only interested in listening to people who "agree with me," then you can bet your *** I wouldn't be here. Or anywhere on the internet, really.

Then you misquoted as I said that, not Belkira. And when a poster is posting something as asinine as saying its ok for a 40 year old man to have sex with a 15 year old, I'm not ignoring people who disagree with me, I'm ignoring sick individuals who should be seeking help with a doctor. If you want, I can easily pay attention to you and recommend some people worth speaking to.

You'd be singing a different tune real quick if it were your sister/daughter that was having sex with a 40 year old dirtbag.

I was mostly entertaining the notion of unconditional love, but then again with ideas as old-fashioned as these I must seem as crazy as Ptolemy.

The earth is the center of the universe, you know.

Yup, no condemnation or Judgment there.

Symptoms of groupthink

In order to make groupthink testable, Irving Janis devised eight symptoms that are indicative of groupthink (1977).

1. Illusions of invulnerability creating excessive optimism and encouraging risk taking.
2. Rationalising warnings that might challenge the group's assumptions.
3. Unquestioned belief in the morality of the group, causing members to ignore the consequences of their actions.
4. Stereotyping those who are opposed to the group as weak, evil or stupid.
5. Direct pressure to conform placed on any member who questions the group, couched in terms of "disloyalty".
6. Self censorship of ideas that deviate from the apparent group consensus.
7. Illusions of unanimity among group members, silence is viewed as agreement.
8. Mindguards — self-appointed members who shield the group from dissenting information.

At 15 you knew what unconditional love was? I sure as hell know I didn't and I was mature beyond my years at that age. Matter of fact, no one my age that I knew had any idea what unconditional love was.

I never said you were evil, weak or stupid. You're sick. Seriously dude, try talking to a psychiatrist and see if they don't agree with me. Try as many as you like.
