So I don't share many experiences in life with the OoT, but that's because life is good for the most part. Until last night of course. I go to a friend's house and we have a party going for a good 4-5 hours. I parked a good ways from his house just so to be sure that I wasn't in someone else's spot (it was a private residential place with retarded "visitor" spots and whatnot).

I leave with a bunch of friends at about 3am (new time) and walk the 15 minutes to where my car was. Its gone. I work at 10:30am the next day too. After being shot through 4 different "branches" of their retarded company one finally admits to sending me to someone else without checking their records. They tell me my car is in the lot and they'll release it after a fee of $150 is paid. I ask where they're located and they tell me "down the street 3 blocks from where it was called in." W. T. F. I'm paying you $150 for inconveniencing me when I'm parking in a legal spot? Fuck you. I hate towing companies.

So wait, they weren't even supposed to tow it and they're still charging you? Thats complete bullsh*t, go to your local "News Investigator" or Scam Watch or whatever and get them to do a story. You'll get your money back so fast you'll be amazed.

They claimed it was "in a fire lane" but the nearest sign was over 2 yards to the right of my vehicle. How do I know this? My vehicle leaks power steering fluid. Rather rapidly at that. Its pretty obvious where the car was because there's a nice big neon green stain on the road. There's no way it could've been illegally parked.

Very good advice. I've had this exact same thing happen to me, in my own housing development no less. The story goes like this.

It was Christmas. My parents, being very merry this time of year, like to get together with some of the family at someone's house. Since I had just moved in a few months before that, we decided to host it. We also invited my room mate/sistertypething's parents and some of her family as well. Needless to say, we had way more cars than our parking lot could handle, so we used the guest parking which was, thankfully for us, only about 2 minutes away since we lived right near the front of the development.

About an hour into the night, my grandmother realizes she left her diabetes kit in the car, and goes to get it, just to find that her, as well as various other cars that had been parked with it, had been towed off. And there was another one being jacked up when she showed up. So I call the front gate and ask them what the hell they think they're doing, and they give us the sphiel that we're supposed to get permission before using the GUEST parking. As if to say if you ever have a guest, you better freaking expect them.

After, like you said, a bunch of ******** hoop jumping, they finally said my car was at the impound, and each one in the lot would be charged a $200 release charge. Now, we had a lot of people at our house, I'm going to go on a whim and say between them all, there were 20 cars in that lot. You do the math. Instead of calling the impound, I called the local newspaper and told them our gruesome little tale. Thankfully, the people who's cars had been taken didn't have anywhere to be, so instead of paying the money, I simply drove all of them home since it was Christmas the next day.

The day after Christmas, me and a newspaper representative (Nice lady by the name of Susan Kelly.) show up at the impound with a camera guy. They were so hasty to open the door and let us take the cars home that they didn't even get a chance to hear the entire story for themselves. I will upload the news clip on youtube if I can find the tape it's on.
