Dont you just hate it, when you go to the store for 20 minutes and you come home and your dog has done this??

...This dog has also, broken a window to get outside, multiple times, and torn a hole in the wall. He's a great dog, 7 years old, collie lab setter mutt. Very affectionate. Does like to sneak out if the door's not all the way closed, but always stays within the block and eventually comes back when you call him.

He really needs a farm home I think...so he can stay outside instead of tempting me to kick the **** out of him. (I would never do that, even when mom handed me the fly swatter to beat him with, thats not me.)

Maybe if you'd kiss him he'd feel like you love him and he wouldn't run away.Smiley: oyvey

...hell I even put peanut butter on my *** for him to lick off.

ITT: Nothing wants me to kiss it. Ever.

This is why I am a cat owner.

My dog never this that kind of stuff Dyadem. We had it for 13 years and the worse he did is running away when he was 3 and we found him a street away. Maybe you need to play with the dog more?

My cat does just as much damage with her claws. And no, I don't believe in declawing, and yes, we've got multiple scratching apparatus and trim her nails regularly. Catnip does not affect this cat, either (apparently it only affects 80-90% of cats, and this is not one of them).

The worst is the staircase which was carpeted pretty poorly to begin with, so the corners of the stair carpet are easily lifted by her claws (they used tackless carpet, so there's nothing holding it down once it comes loose from the original tacking). If it was my own carpet, she'd be gone by now, but thankfully I'm just renting, and I've already notified them of the bad carpet job when I moved in.

That could be part...because I'm not very mobile and this dog is hyper...which isnt an active enough word. He's great for watching movies though, we veg in front of the t.v. all night and the dog couldnt be happier, he just freaks out when you leave him alone. Even if we just go over to the neighbors you can hear him rampaging around the house so he can get out and 'find us'.

Oh Dyadem there is a book called "Marley and Me (life and love with the worlds worst dog)" seriously get it and read it. You'll learn to accept your dog for who and what they are.

My friend's labrador was like that. It was because they didn't take it out for long enough walks.
Started taking it out for 30 minutes plus and it calmed right down.
She put on a stone in the 6 months I stayed with them, 'cos labradors have very hard to resist eyes when they beg.
Still prefer cats though.

I accepted him for his faults long ago, like how he sits in the bay window and drools all over the wall...mom on the otherhand has already made up her mind. So since im a mommas-boy who still lives at home, and she's the one who pays the property taxes...she wins.

I know you have already decided to get rid of the dog and it looks like that might be the best thing for you, but let me make a suggestion.

If you cage a dog during their puppy phase or if you adopt an adult dog during their get to know their surroundings phase then you can eliminate the problems the dog has when you leave. I gated my Lab, no cage is big enough for him, in the kitchen area when I left the house for an entire year. I adopted him at 4 months from the lab rescue organization. He learned not to be destructive to himself which is the main reason for caging.gating. The damage to your personal property as the owner is a secondary learning reaction, their personal environment being the number 1.

Rusty is now terrified of the gate and wouldn't dare chew a hole in anything for fear of being placed behind the gate. I once gated him for 2 minutes last year for ripping up a clean sock I had dropped. I didn't even latch the gate, I just leaned it up against the wall leaving plenty of room for him to willingly wiggle out. He laid on the floor and gave me the sad eyes for all 2 minutes. Now when I drop clean laundry on the way to the bedroom he happily retrieves it for me bringing it right to my feet. I still have to rewash it due to slobber but I know his intentions were good. Smiley: grin

I love my dog. I could never imagine giving him up for anything.

I don't have a pet. I can only beat em so many times before they run away.

My cat still has his claws and has yet to destroy a wall. In fact, outside of knocking an occasional glass over, he hasn't destroyed anything at all.

I bought a new couch last week for an upstairs room, as the other one was a total junker I had never found the time to replace. It was one of those really big ones.

I put it out in the garage and went back inside to call the Salvation Army to schedule a pickup.

Domino destroyed the entire couch in under 30 minutes.

He even broke some of the boards.

My dog could totally kick your dog's ***.
