If I've been charged in the past for Drug Paraphernalia, am I automatically disqualified for aid?

No.

Edit: You may have to do some additional work though. PM me if you want details.

Thanks Nexa :x I'm not enrolled at any schools yet, but I'll fill out FAFSA on new years. I have another question about the estimates though. I'm working two jobs now, and I had another during the summer. Since this will be before taxes in April, should I get an estimate from all 3 paychecks (even though one will be 4 months old), or just use one of the current ones?

My guidance counselor was a ***** and didnt want to help me with this shit in high school.

I'm currently in college (have 1 1/2 years left of Undergrad probably), and while most of my tuition is from scholarships, I do have a couple loans. Is there anything I should be doing right now while I'm still receiving the loans? I plan on going to Graduate School (which will be paid for) if that matters.

If your loans are subsidized, just keep track of them...if they're unsubsidized, pay the interest if you can. That way, at least you'll only owe what you borrowed while you were in school instead of also owing on capitalized interest.

Of course, if you're otherwise debt free and find yourself with some extra money, it also doesn't hurt to start paying on them early. If your loans are subsidized, a more financially responsible move though would be to invest extra money, even in just a savings account, to accrue interest since you're not paying any on the loans themselves and then you'll be able to pay more off once they come due (six months after you graduate or cease taking classes).

Unfortunately, I don't really have any extra money. I have a couple school jobs that get me enough to live on (food on weekends, etc.), but not really enough to save up at this point. I'm so busy most of the time that I couldn't work outside of school if I wanted to. This summer I may be able to save some up if I do research at the school ($3000 for 10 weeks), but while I'm actually taking classes I find myself lacking extra cash flow. Are there steps I can take to make it easier once I graduate? I don't see myself being able to pay off much before then Smiley: frown.

The question will ask how much money you made in 2007, so you'll want to include all income from 2007! If you do it online, you can go right back in and update it when you get your tax information.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Like I said, if you have unsubsidized loans, I'd recommend paying the interest (which is only a little each month) while you're in school so that you don't end up having it capitalize and paying interest on interest. Also: people have a tendency to apply for scholarships their first year, then forget about it throughout the rest of college. Keep applying for scholarships, keep doing essay competitions etc.

You could look into a loan forgiveness program when you're done...I've had friends do Americorp, for example.
