Not like some of you actually need an excuse to churn out 50,000 words in a month, though.

50,000 words in a month? Do they need to make a lot of sense?

Well, it's supposed to be a novel that you're writing.

Considering the current state of English literature, I believe the answer to your question is "no, not really".

Well I think it's safe to say anyone in the OOT can produce 50,000 words that are a story, it won't make terrible sense however.

I don't think Desu x 50,000 would count as a novel.

Are you sure?

I think between Usagi, BT and Hellboy though. We could write an epic creepy story, with everyone else there to help write.

Writing as a collective is irritating.

I probably write close to that monthly as it is, just never on a single project.

We do that sometimes in Biology, Nothing 50,000 words but a good 3-4pages. Just have one person write the first 1/3, then have the next person pick up. It usually tends not to work but w/e.

There's a marked difference between a bunch of slackers trying to cut down on work and writing a novel.

Bump to include the site to join if you decide to (1) write a novel and (2) want to publish it to make money off of it:

http://www.lulu.com

Central OOT store for novels will be at http://www.lulu.com/groups/allaoot for those who are interested in seeing a larger store.

What with baby and all, I don't have time to work on a novel, so I'm doing NaBloPoMo over at LiveJournal instead.

Because of the limited writing window, the ONLY thing that matters in NaNoWriMo is output. It's all about quantity, not quality. The kamikaze approach forces you to lower your expectations, take risks, and write on the fly.

Make no mistake: You will be writing a lot of crap. And that's a good thing. By forcing yourself to write so intensely, you are giving yourself permission to make mistakes. To forgo the endless tweaking and editing and just create. To build without tearing down.

this sounds like the OOT....

i bet a 50,000 word "story" could sprout up from our random babbling...
call it "DON'T READ THIS BOOK NUB" ?

Except if it were baby photos, it would be like looking at before and afters of Michael Jackson. Only instead of turning into a white guy, he changes into a chick!

Unfortunately this site is useless to me as I am a songwriter(a bad one at that) and not a novelist...
