These guys were a staple of my childhood, along with about 80% of the people I know, and we were all pretty stoked when they finally announced the movie back in 2004.

After we heard Michael Bay was doing it we were uneasy to say the least, but in my opinion he pulled it off exactly how I wanted it to be. Even now, after having watched it 2 to 3 times daily since DVD release, I get giddy during any scenes that even have the Transformers in them. (Which, thankfully, was basically the entire damn movie. Glad they didn't pull a Jaws on us with them.)

Now, as everybody who uses the intarweb knows, IMDB isn't normally the most reliable source for movie data anyhow, but the information they had from day-1 was basically spot-on with the movie that came out, so for anyone that loved it as much as me, I just took a look and found..

The Plot Summary wrote:

Transformers 2
Megatron is dead, and the Autobots now live on earth in peace. However, in a distant galaxy, Starscream has declared himself the new leader of the Decepticons, which angers those loyal to Megatron, particularly Soundwave.

Soundwave, who is able to give life back to fallen robotic organisms, leads his own band of Decepticons to earth to resurrect Megatron. To make matters worse, Starscream has heard of an energy source birthed from the Allspark by Sector 7, and he leads his own band to earth as well to take that source of energy. However, Soundwave cannot complete the resurrection without another energy source known as the Creation Matrix, which just so happens to be in the possession of Optimus Prime.

With one band of Decepticons closing in on Optimus Prime and another band of Decepticons looking for the ultimate power, the Autobots, as well as Sam, Mikaela, and the former members of Sector 7, find themselves caught in the middle of a Decepticon civil war that could ravage the planet, and they must fight their way out of it in order to save the human species from extinction.

Release date is slated for some time in 2009. Time can not go fast enough.

They did it "right" the first time (with the exception of the ending. thought that was lame). I'd rather they not ruin it by making another.

Fairweather fan.

I'm holding out hope. I loved every part of the entire movie, even the ending. The ending could have been improved on, but was in no means "bad." If Michael Bay can pull it off a second time, then effin' A. If not, then when they make the third I will watch it once and not buy it.

But c'mon.. It's still the ********* Transformers!

I dunno, I was very skeptic that Michael Bay would completely ruin the first movie, especially after seeing the changes he had made from the old series, but after watching it, I was throughly impressed. I have the same feeling about a second. I think, if done right, he could totally make a worthy sequel, but there is also now the burden of making it better than the first, which could easily turn it into trash. Producers often try to overcompensate and focus to much on certain areas, while lacking in others when trying to make a hit sequel.

Yes, they did it right the first time.

The only thing that I really liked about the new one was that Peter Cullen reprised the voice of Optimus Prime. The little chicky in there was good eye-candy too I guess, but the story was weak sauce. My two cents.

Megan Fox. She is absolutely gorgeous, but a complete air-head which kind of ruins the illusion.

Opinion respected, I found the storyline decent to good, but with a couple of the actors they really should have picked someone more capable of believable dialogue.

I personally like the Aussie Hacker chick :)

She was definetly preferable to the main gal, though both were very, very hot. I told my wife that and she just about knocked my arm off...

Funny how women are...

She is also incredibly hot, for sure, and couldn't really **** up her lines cuz nobody can tell the inflections in an Australian accent anyways.

Two worst casting-calls: Anthony Anderson (fat black guy/lame comedic relief) and Josh Duhamel (Vegas actor/"eye-candy" guy). GTFO of a good movie and go back to TV and ****** kids movies...

Like when the chick said the Bumblebee had a loose distributor cap?

ScreenshotScreenshot

I don't even SEE one. It may be there, what a dumb fucking line to put in the movie. Ever if it was loose, there's no way she'd be able to tell by simply looking under the hood, plus she didn't reach far enough into the engine to even touch it. You think a movie centralized around cars could have had a better line. I lol'd my *** off at that one.

Edit: had to include a pic for you guys to rub one out to.

On the other hand, it's always comedy to see people reaching into hot engines with their bare hands and fiddling around.

Back to the OP -- I'm in favor of it just for Soundwave. Unless they f--k Soundwave up. Then I'm against it.

Well there definitely is going to be sequel.

1) they made a crapload of money off the movie
2) Starscream didn't die, and he flew off into space after the credits.
2a) This means it will inevitably be a trilogy
2b) Optimus will somehow die in the second movie

Just an educated guess.

I hope not. I think I'd cry if I had to see him die AGAIN.

I remember driving with someone and their temp gauge started maxing out something fierce, and I suggested they check up on everything radiator related at some point in the future offhand because of it. We arrived back at their place. I went inside .Not a minute after we had stopped the damn fool tried to pull his radiator cap and almost got his face eaten off by steam.

As I'm sure I've mentioned before, before the movie was even released Cullen and LaBoeuf were signed up for 2 more sequels.

The plot outline for movie 2 sounds like it's got plenty of potential for expanding on Starscream and Soundwave, and moving the humans in only incidentally. Here's hopin'.

Yes, he should.

Also, ITT bork is an inherently funny word.

I guess the Autobots don't mind...

Seeing as how they were all sitting around in a circle staring at the humans getting it on.

Freaks.

So next movie we get to see Elita one and Optimus Prime get it on, having learned from the humans about "Sex"?

It's probably more likely to be Arcee and someone. Bumblebee, maybe. Unlikely Hot Rod's gonna show up, or even Springer.

Anyway, Arcee was in the prequel comic. And she was originally scheduled to be in the first movie, but had to be dropped for some reason. And Susan Blu's still around so maybe they'll get her in?

This is assuming they're allowed to do "female" Autobots at all through today's "PC" society.

I'm not sure what you mean, unless you expect the female Autobots to be sex slaves. I'd be more surprised NOT to see a token female thrown in.

Unless you just meant "PC" society as one driven by Microsoft. Because, yeah, I could totally see chick robots wearing a fruity Apple logo across their robo-tits.

Smiley: lol

I mean because robots are supposed to be genderless, and throwing in a single female around like 9 "guys" was gonna be a bit off. I may have gotten my wires crossed, but I remember thinking that it was gender definition that was going to cause problems.

Says who?

There are quite a few female Autobots that are pivotal to Cybertronian history.

Did I really just type that?

I don't know how "pivotal" they are but there were definately Autobot dames in the cartoon. Those actually seemed more shoehorned in for PC purposes than leaving them out would.

Fair enough but I'm referring more to the comics and novels and whathaveyou. Elita One and Chromia were pretty instrumental to keeping Cybertron safe for 4 million years. Kind seems like a big deal to me. Smiley: grin
