Are we done yet...?

OK, so...

My b-day is coming up, and my sister wanted one for Christmas anyway, so I figured, why not hit two birds with one stone. I actually got a customer choice bundle that came with several accessories and 5 games of my choosing. I got the typical choices - Zelda, Metroid Prime 3, Mario Party, and a couple others, but I'm wondering, what are some of the Wii games you guys would recommend, and why?

I just ordered a Bowflex. Ok, did it yesterday. Hope you enjoy your Wii as much as I'll enjoy my home gym.

Zelda and Metroid prime are about all you will get for deep single player games.

My best suggestion would be instead of picking up more party games, buy a crapton of wii points and just have a field day in the virtual console.

Except if it were baby photos, it would be like looking at before and afters of Michael Jackson. Only instead of turning into a white guy, he changes into a chick!

You do realize that the hot chick in the commercial does NOT come with the Bowflex right? Smiley: dubious

If you liked Zelda for the N64 back in the day: Pick up Zelda - Twilight princess.

Freakin amazing game, very VERY similar feel to the gameplay from the moment you get in-game and the story is just as good, not much richer and not lacking in comparison... they added some creepy HL2 twists in the feel as well. That "off" or "this is not right... mentally" is kind of part of the awesome element added into the game.

Metroid is awesome too.

That's the one I got.. twilight princess... also got Tiger Woods '08 and I'll be picking up the latest Resident Evil for Christmas, I think.

Super Paper Mario is good funtimes.
Also, that Trauma Center game where you do surgery is kinda neat.
It gets a little crazy about the middle of the game though when you start finding people with this odd disease that seems to be smart or something.
And you have to draw a star on the screen to evoke this super sekret hidden power that only truly talented surgeons have or something like that.

Not sure what kind of player your sister is, but I really enjoyed Cooking Mama, Paper Mario, and still play around with Wii Play (mainly got it because of the extra controller). We got Guitar Hero 3 yesterday. We are also planning on getting Mario Kart, Smash Bros, the zap gun, and Animal Crossing (whenever it comes out). But definitely get some points for Virtual Console, and get a decent sized flash card.

I reccomend Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition if you have not played the orignal number 4 on the other Consoles. The remote and style of the game compliment each other like Ham and Cheese does on a sandwhich its that good its unreal.

Tell me how Mario Party is when you get to play it.

I've only played Metriod Prime the last time I went to the mall. I'd say the controlls are a little sensative but I can see how people enjoy it.

Super Paper Mario is a greta game to add to the list.

Mario Galaxy will be coming out November 12, and will have (limited) two player functionality if you and your sibling care for that kind of thing.

A long ways off, but Super Smash Bros. Brawl is going to be a must have for you.

Additionally I will have skype turned on if anyone wants to start a Monday night chat.

Grats now you can play all the crap titles from the PS2 with a new controller. Seriously I am so unhappy with my Wii its not even funny. I haven't played a decent 3rd party game on it yet. I guess if Nintendo hadn't made it with about the same technical stats as the freakin Xbox 1 more multi console titles might be on it. Actually I take that back, the Xbox 1 did have a hard drive built into it. The controller in alot of cases just makes games harder to play then they should be (especialyl the ps2 ports I mentioned). I swear I think 3/4 of the titles on it are movie/kid titles from the PS2 ported to the Wii. Virtual Console is way overpriced for what you get. $8 for Sonic 1 on Wii virtual console compared to $5 on Xbox live. Plus the Xbox live version has save support, on-line rankings, and better support for HDTV's. Plus you don't have to buy a 2nd controller to use xbox live.

Super Paper Mario was a pretty decent game that you might consider. Pretty much that and the games you listed are about the only titles worth a crap on the system ATM. Wii Play isn't a bad deal since your probably going to want more then 1 wiimote. The game itself is fun for about 30 minutes. Mario Galaxy might be good when it comes out.

In all fairness, it sounds like your review is a bit unfairly biased, since it seems you were clearly expecting the Wii to be up to part with next-gen consoles, something I don't think it was designed to be. But the info is appreciated, nevertheless.

Mario Party is fun, although you are sure to get some looks from your friends when you play it, nsfw arm movements and whatnot, but nevertheless a good game. Also Resident Evil 4, although a port is still a good sold game, even if you played it on the GC or Ps2. The controls are different but it's fun once you get the hang of it.

Enjoy your wii
