I hate it when you get old bills back from places. It always tempts me not to spend them. It also makes me wonder how the old bill got there in the first place.

Has it been sitting in some old biddy's wallet for 40 years? Did it just randomly materialize from some alternate dimesion? Am I insane for even speculating about it?

******* Grocery store. ><

Tell you what. Since we're such great friends I'll take it off your hands for you so you won't have to agonize over it. You can just PM it to me.

Another thought has just crossed my mind...

Why don't counterfeiters counterfeit old bills? Or maybe they do and we just don't know. Would't it be better to counterfeit a bill that didnt have all that safety technology on it? Or would people look closer at the old bill than they would at the new one? But even if they looked closely at the old bill wouldn't it still be better than the new bill because of the lack of security features on it?

That's why a lot of places here in Canada don't accept old $50 or $100 bills. $20 bills cost too much to duplicate it usually isn't worth it.

Thar you go Usagi.

Reason for edit: Links removed due to the illegality of photocopying color coppies of US currency.

I'm not sure, but I think it is illegal to photocopy money. I haven't looked up the specific law, but the general agreement on a google search points that it is.

ON TOPIC:

For money to actually be worth anything(outside of it's actual value) it generally has to be in excess of 100 yrs old and in damn near perfect condition. Fun fact, when my grandfather passed, he left me about 200 pre-WWII dated coins from all over the world and most of them were valued under 5 bucks. Ironically, **** Germany currency was worth over 50 a pop. Go figure.
