Southern drawls are not sexy. They just make people sound stupid.

Alternatively, service in any incentive based service industry (food, retail, etc...) far outshines anything I receive in Canada, in general.

Edit: title misspelling

This is rather unexpected. Service must be really crappy up there.

Good enough to get fed... bad enough to not always get what you want.

I've been to Longhorn steak house before and sat upwards of 10 minutes before even getting my drink. I've been to Olive Garden at 4:30pm, just before the big dinner rush, and been told "We're out of bread sticks, they're baking some more, but it'll be another 10 minutes". These are not commonplace occurrences, but are not rare by any means. In a place like Dallas, I think Ugly just got lucky.

Well, I didn't go to a freaking Denny's. I'm talking about quality restaurants where a steak, although severely undercooked melts in your mouth, or a store where you don't pay $12 for a pair of jeans, 2 shirts, a belt and a winter coat.

Not really. The big difference I've noticed between Northern restaurants and Southern ones is that Northern tend to be more efficient, while Southern are close in that regard, but are usually much more friendly.

If you're talking about fast food though, yeah.. it's horrible.

Really good steak is best ordered rare.

I guess you're more of a 'Well Done' type of guy.

Medium Rare. This thing was black and blue. Still one of the best steaks I've ever had.

Southwest twang != Southern drawl. Although, granted, some Southern drawls are pretty stupid as well.

One of the things I regretted not trying in Texas was the Steak. Oh well, next time.

Only time I've ever had a steak taste close to as good as what I had in Texas was when I was in Alberta. Tough call on who's got better meat. Regardless, always get the beef when in Alberta or Texas.

Having lived in TX all my life and moving to CT 3 yrs ago, I have to say that TX has better courteous service. You're still gonna get the **** ups either place, but people are much nicer in quality restaurants in TX than in CT. I have also spoken with many people from here that always comment on how courteous their services were in TX even at places like Walmart. It's the "Texas" mentality.

Yeah, being from Alberta I'd say my bias would get in the way. Apparently, we both feed our cattle the same standard of food which makes them just that much tastier.

Small town Texas is all about being nice. I lived South of Ft. Worth for 7 years, and I've never been around nicer people... unless of course you're driving too slow.

I can say that I never picked up a Southern Drawl... although I did lose my Pittsburghese.

I'm curious where you did go eat. What Stubs is describing are definitely GOOD places to eat. And yes, you can definitely get bad service at them, and there's probably someone in the restaurant at the same time as you that DID get bad service.

Here. Btw, the seafood wasn't all that great, but you're talking to someone who gets fresh seafood from the Atlantic.

Kinda par for the course for me though isn't it? Don't like it? Don't respond to my thread, or shut the fuck up and deal with it.

Besides, I could always consider your comment about crappy service up here to be the same, now couldn't I?
