Ahhh yes Meatloaf. Probably one of my favorites, and his voice is just so... spinechilling? Had "I Will Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That) played at my wedding. The wedding sucked, but the song was awesome.

And yes, Meatloaf is hot.

I agree with Samira about the whole, "It's before my time," stuff. I fell in love with Billy Holiday when I was in high school.

The point he is making is older stuff is only generally liked by newer generations because of an aquired taste. Current music generally doesn't require a specific taste, and what I mean, most people my age will listen to some current rap, rock, and eletronic music across the board. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who can honestly say they don't like any current rap, R&B, Rock, etc. Most R&B I can't stand, but there are a few songs that are outstanding. Same goes for country.

An anecdotal example, I like a lot of 1920's and 30's music, but I'm also heavily into the generation thereof, you'd be hard pressed to find many people into their mid twenties that would even listen to it, much less like the music.

I disagree. I think it's all a matter of bothering to listen to it and keep an open mind, and not automatically discount it as "old crap."

I also think it's easier for someone who was a teenager in the 90s to appreciate music made before s/he was born, than to appreciate music from the 70s.

In part, it's different enough to be heard with an open mind instead of sounding familiar but dated. And in part, there's no generational rivalry or tension getting in the way.

So a little while ago I slipped in a surprise pile of turkey **** and I put my hand right in it. Nasty, nasty turkey ****, all over my hand and up my arm. I decided I needed a shower.

So I go get in the shower, and I kind of like to sing when I'm in there, and I start singing this.

And then I kind of laugh, and I smile, and I think, "Man, you are so fUcking weird sometimes".

I love it when I do that. The best is when I'm with other people and laugh at something ridiculous that I'm thinking and refuse to explain.

I could just hug me sometimes...

There are times when I'm sitting with my husband, then I'll just look at him and say, "What did you think of that movie?" And my tone is so indignant, and he can't figure out what I'm talking about so he looks at me like I'm crazy and says, "What? I liked what movie?"

Then I remember that he couldn't hear what I'm thinking about in my head and I feel silly. Smiley: frown

Edit: And sometimes, when I type on here I get my thoughts mixed up with what I'm typing, and it comes out sounding stupid...

I disagree, why i listen to my old CD's or tapes some sound really dated but the real classics still sound as fresh and powerful as the day i first heard them.

Well i know plenty of people who cannot stand rap in any form. Hell they even refuse to listen to Linkin Park because it's "Psudo rap"

In general Rap is missing a C.

Pop is dull mass written tripe sung by farm singers to make exec's rich and has been for 10 years. That wasn't 100% the case in the 80's when band like Duran Duran, Wham, tears for fears and that ilk managed to pump out original albums in the "Pop" genre. I just don't see any pop bands like those anymore. They are either Boi/Gurl bands or Xfactor failures with a few tits n *** naked chicks to round it out.

Somehow i don't see justin trousersnake as the new Bowie or Elton John.

I can honestly say I abhore Rap, but not Linkin Park.

I also cannot stand much of Classical (unless we are talking about BOND).

I can stand some newer Country, but generally have a dislike for it (It ******* blows).

R&B I am not too fond of (WTF is this damn Solja Boy ****, it's not even music?).

Rock I only go as high as Heavy/Some Metal.

Hate Emo though >.<, and most pop is just as anoying.
