Well, if we look past Mindel's entry of lulz, I might take a whack at the topic at hand.
I won't play Online Poker for money at all. I can't really with good consciousness support websites where half the players are addicted to gambling and play themselves out of house and home. The money I could win would in all likelihood be taken from some poor sap that can't stop playing even though he obviously doesn't have the skill nor economy to support it.
I play with friends and people I know can take the loss without getting into trouble, financially.
I understand you point, but thinking about it, I really don't have much compassion for people addicted to gambling. I suppose the only thing that would bother me would be the other people (family members, etc.) affected by their affliction. I guess it's wrong to be taking advantage of them, but with the anonymity of the internet, it's not like you really know which people are the ones gambling their lives away and which players are able to afford it. I suppose that the people with gaming addictions would be playing at the higher stakes anyway. Of course, this could all just be a load of bullsh
it that I'm feeding myself to justify playing online.
I've played in live tournaments and at live ring games at Foxwoods and never really thought that I was taking advantage of people with gaming addictions. Perhaps I was, but it never crossed my mind. I don't imagine that playing online, I would be taking advantage of a larger number of addicts. I do play against my friends, but games against people I don't know is more of a challenge, and one which I enjoy.
