Anybody got one fo these or any other home gym? I want to get one. I'm having issues getting myself to the gym as its inconvenient where it is in relation ot my house since moving in February. I go irregularly now as a result as its just hard to motivate myself when its an extra 15 minutes away. That's a half hour lost every morning that I'm not cool with so I want a home gym.

Problem is, I never realized how many different systems Bowflex has until I just looked at their site. Anybody got one of these at home and can recommend one to me?

They are all crap. I don't know a single owner of one that hasn't had to repair it at least twice a year.

Just pick yourself up a simple adjustable bench and a hand full of free weights ranging from say 25(or 15) pounds to 45 pounds.

I highly recommend any sort of bow flex. we use to have one in our downstairs salon (a nice tv room with a tanning bed, treadmill , bow flex) and those things will whip your butt into shape. that backside resistance will make you feel like a girl at first, mostly because you will have to step down a few pounds from what you can normally do, but by far, best brand of work out machine ever.

EDIT: repair :O ? mine never broke down >.>

Uhm, no. 45 lbs isn't close to enough weight for me, so free weights aren't an option for me at home. It's going to have to be a universal gym. While I'll get free weights so I can work some of the stabilizer muscles, the core muscles are going to be needing a lot more than 45 lbs.

I use Chuck Norris' Total Gym. It uses your own body weight as resistance, and seeing as I have a ******** of that, it works for me.

Flea's brother has a Bowflex and says good things about it. I've never used one but I'm pretty sure her brother could kick my *** so there's one glowing testimonial.

I've used a Bow Flex, and so want one.

I like how you have to stabilize your movements, thus a harder better work out (and doing so means all the little muscles get worked out).

MY youngest brother's best friend just got one (they are both 14). . . i told him he was a lucky *******. And then told him if he never uses it, call me up...ill take if off his hands.

free weights ftl.
I have a nice bench set up that can be used for other stuff, but yea..free weights suck when you need more weight then the bars can handle.

I wouldn't say free weights FTL, as they are always better. But for a home gym with no spotter, free weights are out for me as I can't get the weight I need by myself.

Nope. I could ask her but I doubt she'd know either. Might be able to relay a message but it won't be timely.

If you remember to ask over the next few days, then cool. If not, no big deal. I think I know which one I want to get anyway.

I've had mine for 3 years now and use it almost every day. I've never had the first problem with it.

I highly recommend a bowflex for a home gym, especially now that they have the smaller/sleeker looking versions out. I screwed up and bought mine right before they came out Smiley: glare

The free weight set they released around 2 years ago is pretty nifty as well.

Mine is the older model Ultimate.. it looks dinky compared to what they have out now. You don't want to go all out and buy the Ultimate 2 if you're not REALLY into body building. The only real benefit you get from upgrading that much is a lot of lesser used workouts that professionals use.

I don't really keep up with it too much anymore, but from what my buddy says (who bought one about a month ago) This one has everything you'll ever need. Plus, it has a pretty fair price for everything it comes it comes with Smiley: nod

Wow thats expensive. I would never pay that for any kind of gym. Full water jugs and at home bicep curling FTW!! Free and effective. Only drawback to that plan is if you want to do anything besides tri's or bi's thats pretty much out. Maybe you could do water jug crunches??

Broom handle with the broom screwed off of it + heavy stuff= Good way to do squats and step ups. But I have no clue about bowflex, though I've always wished I had the money to buy one.

Well on a serious note muscle burns more calories per pound (I think an extra 20-30 calories per day) from just sitting around doing nothing, if you can build it.

Just a thought.
