To me spammers just post crap just to get another post in ("I like Pie"). The vast majority of Hellboy's posts are either a twisted witty response/bend on the OP, or a response to a response (that has at least some thought behind it).

Obviously, you and I have different thoughts on the definition of wit.

Hellboy's one of the smartest posters in the OOT. He's actually really clever, a sweet kid to boot. It's just hard to see what he's up to on a casual inspection.

The general public view that Hellboy is a ****** stems from his posting style. Sure, he makes a few very interesting posts, but only about 1,000 of his 20k posts fall into that category. Personally I think he's just a bit immature, but has potential. And his posts do seem to be getting better with time.

My guess is we have different thoughts all the time. Wit is entirely culturally and individually defined, with the possible exception of physical humor. A good trauma-to-the-groin video probably elicites laughter in any culture.

Have you read any of the research in to von economo neurons? It seems we may be neurally wired to laugh at sight gags, along with our closest primate cousins. Fascinating stuff :D

You suck the magic out of everything (that doesn't sound right when read aloud).

Anyway, no, I hadn't heard that.

Considering that we just had a post about hellboy like...what, yesterday? I don't think theres much left to be said about him.

On to Dorkette...I doesn't seem shes not doing anything anybody else on the forum hasn't done. I personally like her.

why so /butthurt over being called a spammer? Does it really matter after a bajillion posts? Everyone seems to insult everyone in this forum. Heck, everyone else seems to insult everyone on the internetz.

This thread seems filled with /butthurt that could have been settled in PM.

Yes but in PM you can't get every single member of the OOT involved and taking sides and causing massive loldrama.

It's better than watching neighbours, I swear.

Hellboy is a ******* spammer although he occassionally has a flash of interesting material when discussing literature or cinema. Also, he knows who Holly Cole is. That's the closest you're getting to a compliment from me, Hellboy, so lap it up.

Adorabledorkette's posts are, without exception, just more worthless flotsam in the forums. Except that she has way too many worthless things to say (over 400 posts in a couple weeks?) so its a veritable Sargasso Sea of typed ****.

I'm not sure I'd go so far as to say that, but yes, when he's not spamming some random crappy meme, Hellboy can be intelligent. That seems to be much more frequent as of late, which is nice for once. Unless of course, you mean smarter than at least 50% of the OoT, in which case I wholeheartedly agree.

At my wedding, God Only Knows was supposed to be me and my Mom's song. The DJ fucked up and played the wifes parent's song. Smiley: motz

As for Hellboi, I think we all know my feelings towards him but I will admit his ratio of Intelligent:SPAM postings has gone from 1:1,500 to 1:575.

As for Adorabledorkette, I have not read much of her posts, so I can't comment on her posting caliber.

I remember I recommended that cover to you and that, later, Flea was irrationally bothered by it because it was our first song. She'll be pleased to know that Fate conspired to keep it pure although I sympathise with you in spirit.

I recently spent too much money on training to dance a Two-Step Hesitation or whatever it was called to that song.

Hellboy: I think some people give him too much credit. After 20k+ posts you're bound to get better at it. Most people don't need that much practice before becoming at least decent posters.

Dorkette: Whether you like or hate Rime, the fact that she's riding his coattails isn't doing her any favors. What's even worse is that her posts reak of an effort to 'fit in'. I find myself skipping what she has to say unless someone has replied to it directly.

Well the DJ did play it later for us, but it wasn't our official dance. It is a good song and Flea should be happy that it meant so much to other people Smiley: grin

We never even thought to take dancing lessons, rocking back and forth was good enough (and free!)
