Mac are by far the best video editing system, idk bout audio- never did more then fool around with it. My friend Kian has a sweet *** mac set up for his video editing. Omg, nice sony vx2000 w/ the death lens, and final cut. He dled off lime wire though. Idk all t hat much bout' macs really. They look alright its just not everything is mac friendly. So, I wouldnt spend the time to learn a brand new interface and get nothing but video editing from it. My p.c. works fine, Im using a Vx1000 w/ death lens, windows xp home, 512 mb dual channel(2gb max), Radeon 9200(Im gonna upgrade soon), 80 gb internal, 250 gb external. My editing sys is a mediocre pinnacle 9, which- is nothing special, but I get slow motion, fast motion, fade songs, the basics. Plus a nice little edit thing that lets you create your own scene transisitions. So, with all that- who needs a mac?

The power of the RISC processor that Apple has would crush the Pentium if they ran at the same speed. Too bad they don't. I love Mac, but Intel has passed them up in true power finally. Maybe they will have to stick to making iPods.

Isn't that kind of like saying " if a honda had an engine that awas as big as a dodge viper v-12" then it would go as fast as a viper? Or is it just me?

If you just video edit and web browse, mac is alright. Other wise go p.c.

Mac-bashing? Well, for gaming I can understand (only D2 seemed to be a decent Mac game) but for video editing?

If I had the money I'd get a G5 with Final Cut Pro HD for video editing in about ten seconds.

Since I also play games (like FFXI; sorry, not an EQ fan) I'd hold on to my PC because Mac != gaming.

Nonono. You got it all wrong. It's like saying: Yeah, the Viper(apple) is only running at 1500 rpms and the honda(intel) is running at 2500. Yet the viper is still putting out more horsepower. But lately its like this:"Yeah the Viper is limited to 1500, but the honda is going 6500 rpms, and its putting out more power.

Apple's developement tools are state of the art and the best as far as I'm concerned. So for you non-programmers Macs may seem useless, but when you can write basic apps in 10 lines of code as compared to windows 110+ lines, you lean towards apple more. =P

Can't wait for the G5 powerbooks, oh and iTunes is the best mp3 player ever.

Plus I don't particularly like what Bill Gates' programmers do to the evil OS known as Windows, which is pretty much standard on PCs. Mac OS has like 47 virii total. It would be a miracle if only 47 new virii were found per month on Windows machines. Linux has less virii than windows, and they rarely can even take effect due to the security style of Linux.

Panther (Soon to be Tiger, OS 10.4?) is UNIX based now and I'm sure has picked up a LOT of security features from it so I doubt there are even 40 virii for apple machines, if any at all. Another plus is the graphics are a lot crisper and cleaner. FFXI would look soooo much better on an apple if they ported it over. SE should get on that.

Someone needs to post a link to the fake commerical with the guy who basically says "I was so confused as a PC owner. there were just so many choices for games. That's why Mac gaming is great because we have like 5 titles. It makes things so much easier..."

I could not find it...

Cutting shorts on any of my PCs sucks...I shoot with a consumer-level Sony DV camera but I'd like to get my hands on a Panny DVX100...24 frames per second.
