DVD Recommendations....Follow

#1 Sep 15 2004 at 9:08 PM Rating: Decent
Alright I got a list of DVDs that I would like to own and they all kind of have the same genre or flow. If yall can recommend some movies that go with this same pattern please feel free to post them. So far I have . . .

Scarface
Godfather
Heat
Casino
Oceans 11
Bugsy
Dog Day Afternoon
Goodfellas
Boondock Saints

(and just for my own curiosity... I'm trying to find the name of two movies. Not necessarily relevant to this post.)
1. Movie where a family or more than one family... holds the cops at bay at a massive shootout at the family barn. All I remember.

2. Probably 70s-80's movie. Deals with Robot fighters as big as robotech bots i assume. And people fit inside the main chamber of them. But all of the main fights are inside of an arena... and in the main fight(i believe) the bad guy goes down and when hes down he falls into the audience crowd.

Very vague details. I know. Sorry but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Gangster No 1.
Snatch
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.
Pulp Fiction
The Untouchables
A movie who's title I forget about a Yakuza boss who flees Japan and ends up running a black street gang in the US. Anaki? Something like that.
Miller's Crossing.
The Usual Suspects

Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

Number 2 was RoboJox. Enjoy.

Edit- I think it was actually "Robot Jox", not RoboJox.

Completely agree! Snatch is one of my favorite movies! The others are great as well. Cant think of anymore of that genre off the top of my head, but I know I've seen some others.

"Scarface was the stupidest movie I have ever seen!!!!!!!!!!!"

WHAT!?!?! WHAT!?!?!?!..... Oh my goodness.

I do believe you are the first person EVER to tell me this. This movie is the epitomy(sp?) of coming from nothing and having it all and not taking **** from anyone. Its a great movie just to have on while you and the guys play Texas Holdem and play pool and drink beers all night.

But thanks everyone so far for the movies. Im gonna go buy these next week when I get paid.

I just rented Man on Fire last night; I thought it was pretty good, and does fit somewhat into your theme.

Besides the obvious "Everything from Quentin Tarentino" disclaimer and Smash's list... hrm. Try 'Ronin' also... some of the best chase scenes in pretty much anything.

State of Grace
King of Ny
Lock Stock and two smoking barrels

All good films. Acting is well done, and stories are well thought out.

King of NY is a good one. I thought Ronin sucked, frankly.

Heat
The French Connection
Knockaround Guys (mediocre really)
Swat (mediocre)
Ninja Scroll
Band of the Hand (for the not intentionally funny moments)

The Professional

Get Leon (the non US version) instead. It's much better.

^Agree, get Leon.

Also, The Score wasn't bad. Ronin was, although it's worth watching.
