I have been hearing that they are going to change things when they come out with Star Wars The Original 3 on DVD.
Can Someone tell me about these changes?

All info is appreciated.

Thanks

Well, this isn't the first time Lucas has done this. Lest we forget the original *Special Edition* trilogy. However, if he makes these changes he can most likely charge more money, and that is Lucas primary goal.

Well, it's not like I'm gonna boycott buying the original trilogy on dvd, but...I was going somewhere with this, but I lost it.

As long as there isn't an added Lando and Chewie love scene, I'll accept it.

Nor will I, However, when he goes and changes something else, he only cheapens the experience, IMO.

I think this is what I was going for but then lost.

It'll never live up to seeing the original trilogy in theaters for the first time when I was a kid, but if it can still bring back some of those feelings and memories, it's still worth it.

Bah, at first i was like "meh its still star wars" when the "special editions" came out. I could even put up with Greedo shooting first or Luke screaming like a girl when he fell down the shaft in cloud city.

But enough is enough. After crappy *** special editions and two painfully bad prequels i have given up on star wars. I own the original VHS copies thats enough. I try not to be the bitter, elitist fanboy who dreams of better days, but really is he trying to kill the series?

I think to the forward in either Brave New World or Fahrenheit 411 when the authors reminisce about the works many years after they come out. Both authors see flaws or things they would like to change in their respective stories but fight the urge because to do so would rape the original product and change its meaning. I only wish Lucas had this self restraint to let his creation stand for good or ill and not butcher it trying to "reimagine" it.

Meh but im rambling.

Perhaps the changes are enhancements to the special effects. Making lasers with a whiter center, but darker rim, giving the ships better sounds, etc... I doubt there will be any material that has been done in the 21st century. He might add some previously shot, but never used scenes.

Remember the special editions? The added hoth ice creature, changing it up so greedo shoots first, add the yell to the fall, some bad looking CG, the Dance Scene at Jabba's Palace, the Sarlaac suddenly getting a beak, I could go on and on. I will admit that i like how they fixed up cloud city.

They are not huge changes to the plot or storyline of the movie they do affect the movie, and not ina good way. The fact that he is planning to do even more scares me. If it was just touching up lightsabre effects, lasers, erasing some shadowing with special effects (the snowspeeder cockpit on hoth you can see through parts of it), cleaning up and adding to sound, making the death star explosion look nicer etc i would be a uber happy camper.

But he is not, for example i will use the Greedo shooting first thing. While not a huge plot altering thing it does change the character of Han Solo. Instead of a mercenary scoundrel who shoots first he is a good man protecting himself, which is great but the cool thing about Solo is he goes from being a complete scoundrel to a hero.

Or how about Luke screaming when he falls in cloud city, instead of a beaten man falling to his death and accepting whatever is gonna happen you have Skywalker screaming like a 14 yr old as he plunges to the bowels of cloud city. While the screaming is more "realistic" i dont expect realism in a movie about some force wielding mystics fighting a galactic rebellion in a galaxy far far away. Plus it makes the main hero look like a little bytch.

Im not even gonna get started on the whole musical number at Jabba's palace, sure i liked the mos eisley cantina band but c'mon.

But im rambling again. All i can say is that for once change is bad, It would be like Orson Welles coming back from the dead and saying imma redo Citizen Kane but i think it would be better in colour, also i would like to add some CG. Also maybe have Kane come back from the dead and settle with childhood happiness instead of power and wealth.

The only reason the first three Star Wars movies didn't suck was that Lucas was unable to fill them with his "vision" because of restraints on resources and technology.

Now those restraints are gone and he have them suck just as much as the last two and almost inevitably the finale will.

He ran out of Kurizowa films to plagerize so now he's defensively trying to stamp as much "orginiality" as he can onto his remake of Kakushi toride no san akunin.
