What is the best group, and this is from 1900 to 2004. This thread should have some arguments.
Group of what? If you're talking about music WTF are you going back to 1900? Someone please name any group prior to 1950 that I've heard of and I'll **** a cow bell.

Red Hot Chili Peppers have been making extraordinarily unique music for about 20 years.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience had a totally unique sound and made three incredible studio albums and where like a force of nature live before Jimi's untimely vomit-choke. Remember to pass out laying on your side, not back, kiddies.
Not Stones or Zeppelin because they ripped of the "Black Man" a lot. And I make it a point not to answer “Beatles” to questions like this.
Nirvana could be an interesting dark horse in this.

Rage Against the Machine. You don't have to like their music to appreciate their originality. Tom Morello is a freakin' genius.
